He said if he owned my land 4.5 acres, he would hunt quails and rabbits using one of those air rifles you can get without a license? Is this legal? I live in arizona.

Even in Kansas the land owner has to purchase a hunting license to hunt his own land. He does get a discount if he has agricultural land, such as crops or cattle. But he has to own more than 80 acres to get that discount. And Doc is right game birds can only be shot with shot guns not bb guns, legally. Rabbits or squirrels can be shot with bb guns. If you only have 4.5 acres I would wonder if you live in the country or town. Most city limits don't allow even bb guns to be used on your own property.

You'd better check with the Arizona fish and game department. I believe most states have the same licensing requirements for people hunting on their own property as for anyone else.

Furthermore, most states do not permit the use of airguns for hunting regulated game animals.

You need a license to hunt regulated animals, even on your own land. They also have seasons. Hunting out of season is called poaching, even on your own land.

Best check your DNR/ Game dept. Quails as a game bird might have restricted season, might require shotgun and state game license even on own land , rabbits probably open season and likely no weapon restriction, probably no license requirement on own land.
