... we all have changed ours ourselves?

Many of you were atheists and now are religious;
Many of you were religious and now are atheists;
Many of you were skeptical and now believe in something;
Many of you lost the faith on the way;
Many of you have been changing the belief several times (like me);

So why not respect those with different point of view, when we've been there before, or we might be there one day?

Amen (Ommmmmmm), Sister...can't we all just "get along?" (Get along, little dogie...move on, move on, move on) Change is inevitable in one way or another. It is those who resist change and are "attached" to viewpoints who suffer the most. Resistance brings pain. We are all in this together...respect is the only solution to dissension. We needn't agree on quibbling points, but aren't we more alike than different? Do keep the door open; one might want to walk through it one day. I am Sirius

A kind Sufi has directed me to www.bmf.org where i have found a beautiful quote by a Sufi holy man: "Make yourself aware, and by making yourself aware, you will make others aware. Don't waste time. We have very little time left. We must say this silently with every breath, Other than God ((Atheists/Agnostics/Unbelievers may substitute the word Love for God)) there is nothing. God alone exists." We all have at least this in common...LOVE. Very Sirius

I read trueisraels answer and he hit the spot. He spoke not arrogantly but humbly, he spoke not ignorantly but wisely, and caringly not selfishly. He absolutely right in understanding meanings of The Truth of The Word of God from the Scriptures and realying those meanings to this question.

The time is now and we are living in the last time. He is coming and all will kneel before The Lord and answer for what they have done. Whether they think they will or not, they surely will. Everyone has the gifts of choice and free-will and choice, and if we abuse them and do not take care of them, then we are the only ones that can be held responsible and accountable.

Problem is in todays world people think more of themselves than of Spirit and others. Ignorance is bliss they say, but for it they will pay, as we all will.

The evil infected in the Holy Land at this time is another proof of country rising against country, brother against brother and so on. Another problem is that it's happening everywhere too. This is another sign of Him coming, for all will know it.

Whether we think we know best, really we know nothing. Whether we think we are right, we cannot know it, whether we think someone else is wrong, we cannot judge. We can only judge ourselves, but many actually do?

Maybe it's too late to turn our self-inflivted mess around, maybe it's not!

It's never too late to stop denying yourself that we are somehow interconnected universally and that we have responsibility with that connection, whether we like it or not.

So, really, if we just took a little more time to think of the effects of ourselves on ourselves, on others and around us and paid more attention to out actions, and tried to do more good even though there is alot of bad, then maybe we would feel more at peace within and with others.

Respect Light and Love, for Love is The Light

Peace
Peace and respect brother

Religious viewpoints would naturally differ, and when basic instincts get 'encroached', there would be strong contradictions not only among religious followers, but within the same religion, and also within each individual person !!!
Spirituality is distinct from religion, though the purpose of religion ought to be for promoting spirituality. There can be no scope for any difference among spiritual persons (and this could be a 'litmus' test to know if they are truly spiritual) ! Spirituality is about going beyond nature (the nature's perception being limited to sensory level of perception)!

tolerance is the only way.
tolerance thru understanding.

generally speaking we are at cross roads. we are ignorant about others, what we know is just about infinity. in reality what we know is not worth a dime.

it is this ignorance which is the root cause.
then starts the arrogance.
and then the "gance" - i meant guns- to tell the world that u r right, ur religion is right and every thing else is non-sense.

we beleive only what we want to "beleive".

ultimately every body has to move away from the written or spoken interpretations. go to the roots and find the answers themselves. it may be a long journey. but it is so fruitful. just take the first few steps and one will realise their foolish knowledge which they were beleiving.

that goes for this answer.

ALL Holy text when addressing the nature of God declare that he is past knowing, unknowable, unfathomable, his ways are un-searchable and yet somehow when we individually or as a culture grasp some tiny bit of who and what God is our ego eats of the tree and declares this is it! We know God! Those that see a different aspect of God are infidels! Those that understand exactly as we do are good and those that do not are less than good or worse, evil!

My beloved friends, there is a saying of great wisdom that applies here. “Those who say they know, do not know. Those who say they do not know, know.” All of us are blind to the fullness of God. None know it. Even the Christ declared through Jesus “…..only the Father knows.”

Who are we to say that how someone worships God is wrong? How are we to know if they see some aspect of the infinite nature of God that we are blind to? We don’t.

Each path but leads to the same truth as at the end of every journey is God. He is in and of all things. His love is inherent in all things.

Every sincere seeker eats of fruit that God gives them. Who of us when our child ask to eat something because they are hungry will give that child something that will not supply the nutrition the child needs. How greater is the love of God!

Here is a parable that may help.

There was an ancient vineyard that grew from one true root. From this root grew four true stalks. In the beginning the stalks bore fruit abundantly with perfect taste and nutrition for all.

As time went on the stalks produced branches, then twigs, then leaves, which then made up tangled vines in such a way as to completely cover over the true root and true stalks. Enormous was the size and scope of the vineyard.

Now, it still bore fruit but so massive was the vineyard that the fruit closest to the one true root was not accessible. The people ate only of the fruit on the outside. Some ate of the red fruit of the east, some ate of the green fruit of the west, some ate of the blue fruit of the north while those living in the south ate of the yellow fruit. Each of the four regions held that their fruit was the true fruit and shunned the fruit of the other three. Hidden was the pure fruit of the stalks in which every hue was found.

Then came the Lord and owner of the vineyard and he commanded the husbandman to prune the leaves, twigs, vines and branches so that the people could once again eat of the fruit closest to the true root. The husbandman, being a faithful servant replied only “Yes Lord.” And began his work.

Great was the task but the husbandman began in earnest cutting back the leaves, twigs, branches and removing the vines in all four regions. Almost immediately there arose a great cry from the people for each thought that the leaves, twigs, vines and branches of their region bore the best fruit, the one true fruit!

After much labor the husbandman removed all of the leaves, twigs, branches and vines leaving the four stalks and one true root. Even as all of the people from all four regions saw the four branches, one of which was the source for the unique fruit of their region, they wailed. Lost to them was “their” fruit, the fruit that they considered the fullness of all the vineyard had to offer.

The elders from each region approached the husbandman for meaning. “Be patient” he said. Allow a season for the four stalks to bear fruit.

The most amazing thing happened. All four stalks began to bear fruit. So full of nutrition was the fruit that only a little was needed for each to be satisfied. Not only was the familiar taste of their region in the fruit, but there was so much more. The fullness of all was there.

Then the “Radiance” was shinning for all to see, for they beheld the one true root, inherent in the four stalks, that bore the fruit, that fed all!

Those with ears, let them hear.

Those with eyes, let them see.

Those that hunger, let them be fed.

Those that seek the meaning, let them ask.

Blessings and peace to all,
All in all,
Nony

Perry hits it right on the nose, what the religous right does does effect everyone negatively.
An example of why I'm "intolerant"

In Tennesee religous people are trying to put anti-evolution text books in public school science classes, they are undermining intelligence, education and Truth, I can't stand for that and must oppose it, I will not "tolerate" it.

If fundies only wanted that crap taught in special, private, fundie schools, I'd feel bad for the children subjected to that kind of deluded misinformation, but I might feel slightly more tolerant of it.

Let's distinguish between respecting a different religion or belief and respecting the PERSON who holds that belief. I know some very nice people that hold beliefs I consider, well, unbelievable. But I don't tell them I think they are fools, I just answer questions if asked. If they expect me to agree with them, I am capable of saying, "Well, I disagree," and letting it go at that.
