It all depends on the breed. Typically small dogs live longer than larger ones, but it depends on how well the dog is taken care of.

It varies. For example, and Irish Wolfhound has a 5-7 year life span, while a lhasa apso is famous for living to be 20+ years old, with an average of 12-15. Typically Giant breeds have very short life spans while smaller dogs live longer.

It varies with breed, and then with the quality of care and nutrition. Some breeds also have serious genetic problems that will shorten any given individual's lifespan from the norm.

The larger the dog, the shorter the lifespan. In essence they "burn out" faster as it makes for a lot of wear and tear, and takes a lot of energy to maintain their size. This is usually 6-8 years for Great Danes, Tosas, Mastiffs etc.

The smaller the breed, the longer the lifespan... which can range to over 20 years.

Random breds (mixed breeds, mutts) have a built in genetic advantage that can be greater than the sum of their parts, so they are most variable.

Usually smaller dogs live longer than big dogs. Great Danes are very old at 7 years, whereas toy poodles are old at 12 and up. Of course nutrition and care can make a big difference.

It depends on the breed.

If I remember right, smaller dogs can live longer than larger dogs.. though I may have that turned around.

I work with Siberian Huskies, and they can live from 15-20 if properly taken care of.
