Question is for Tucson owners or those who know ... is there ample room for a REAR FACING child seat behind the passenger seat? We are considering this vehicle and my Wife is quite tall. We're wondering if the front seat has to be in it's most forward position to accomodate the rear facing seat.

Thanks!

Well, the best way to find out is to take a car seat to the dealership, install it and then climb into the front seat. though I'm guessing it would be a tight fit. I have a large car and at 6ft tall the rear facing seat touches slightly the headrest on my seat. All Hyundai's are very safe, so don't bother with the 1st posters comments, go to www.edmunds.com and check the crash ratings for yourself, I recall them as 4/5 star in almost all categories. Anyway, personally I think you are much better off spending another $2500 and getting the much better and larger Santa Fe. If the cost is an issue simply go for a 2006 Santa Fe with 25K miles and the 3.3L V6, it will probably cost you about the same as a new Tucson and you will still have alot of warranty left not...not to mention a nicer ride.

Yes, there should be enough room for a rear facing child seat in the Tucson! There is 29 inches of leg room in the Hyundai Tucson. And, most dealers have a child seat in the showroom, just for these kind of questions...And yes, the Tucson is a find Crossover utility vehicle, Great choice!

It also has a five star crash rating!
