My husband served out of a sense of honor, family history, pride and patriotism. He is atheist.

Religion didn't play a role for me serving in the navy. I knew since I was five that I was going into the military. I said at five I was going into the army, but some how went into the navy. I wish I would have stayed in longer than 3 years though. I think the thing that pushed me upon graduating high school is that I couldn't stand living with my family and had no where else to go.

I served 11 years U.S. Army through two deployments Desert Storm/Shield.
I served because this country stands on the foundations of Americans fighting for America. Freedom has been earned through the blood of braver men than myself.
I am honored to have served my country.
I wasn't spiritual at all going into the military. I became a Christian half through my tour of service.

I served cause it seemed a good idea at the time. I was not religious at all. I'd advise people to not enlist until the military gets the ones trying to bring religion into units. That's as unconstitutional as you can get!

I served in the Marine Corps because I was bullied a lot in school and was tired of being a 98 pound weakling. They turned my life around. Religion had nothing to do with it.

I went in during Desert Storm.
I wanted to serve because I didn't like the idea of some mad man gassing the Kurds, or kidnapping fellow Iraqi's at random and torturing them to death for his jollies.
I felt those people deserved a lot better life for themselves and for future generations.

Religion had nothing to do with it. I was and am an atheist. I owed the U.S.A. to my way of thinking. I stayed in about ten years. USN. Fleet Sailor.
