The bible is full of metaphors, symbolism and parables.
There are also many translation issues and word meanings that have changed over the years.
As we go back to the original Greek, Hebrew, Latin text there are many passages we will find the text will translate somewhat different than the current English translation. (Although the message that was trying to be conveyed is usually the same or similar.)
Not to mention many text areas of some translations that have been modified by people to make it more “tasteful” to what they believe. (sadly that is happening more and more often with some of today’s translations rather than trying to be more accurate.)
As for animal scientific classification we (people) are constantly updating and changing classifications of animals as we learn more about each species.
For instance Colin Groves, a professor of biological anthropology at the Australian National University as quoted by the Daily Telegraph of London (May 2005) while talking about the large increase in the number of primate classifications (just one tiny area of the planet's animal population): "...even without all the new discoveries that have happened over the past 15 or 20 years, the number of recognized species of primates probably has increased by about a third (33%) over that time - simply because of reclassification."
Even without the hard core science, there are common classification errors made by many people. For instance is a tomato fruit or vegetable?
You must also keep in mind that the translations of the bible were and are meant to be understood by those who were/are reading it. What good is it to talk about an Ornithorhynchus anatinus if no one understands what the writer is talking about?
As for can a mammal surviving 3 days in the stomach of another living animal, there is an interesting writing about Jonah located at:
http://troach.org/faith/jonah.htm .
It doesn’t say that the story is true, but it does have some interesting ideas about how it hypothetically could be possible. It is a bit long but, i think, worth looking at.
When it comes to belief in Our Creator you either have faith or you do not. I will say with all of the pure garbage practices and teachings so many groups present as being the way of God, but are obviously not, I can understand why you have many doubts about there even being a Creator. If the only things I had ever learned about Our Creator came from those groups, which neither truly teach nor follow the teachings of Jesus, I would have serious doubts about His existents also.
Ultimately, however, when it comes to having faith in Our Creator please try to remember:
Never confuse the practices of the people with the church,
Never confuse the practices of the church with religion,
And Never Ever confuse the practices of religion with God.
May Our Creator watch over you and your family.

Wow, you avhe elicited some interesting responses.
The bible is from planet earth, written by humans in search of answers to things they could not fathom. The earth appeared to stand still to many, so that's what they wrote. The fact that astronomy is an ancient art, in some cases older than the passages you refer to, it is difficult to figure out what exactly people thought they were saying/doing.
One person says this is a weak argument...perhaps so...but no less weak than to say the bible is full of parables, when most evangelical Christians will tell you it is all, word for word, the truth, to be taken literally. I think you asked a good question, since I read into it the real query of, where did all this stuff come from if it's all true, and the inspired word of God? I would think that God, if he created all of this, would also know how it works, including where the earth is in the solar system movement plan. It is a wonder why God would choose to inspire people to get the facts all wrong.

The bible is 100% true fiction, some of the events happend just in a less dramatic way. So it is written about earth and comes from the same place as all fiction, the human immagination.

From this one. God is creator of all these things. The bible is many different books that have been re-written and translated many times. There are errors in it. Someone put a lot of errors on one of the answers. But 99% of it is straight and true and a great way to live while on this earth. It has brought a lot of peace, happiness, and satisfaction in my life so even if it wasn't scripture, it surely is a great way to live. If it weren't the bible, it still would be a best seller. Civilized countries have made laws parallel to the bible. Thou shall not kill, thou shall not steal, thou shall not bear false witness, though shall not comit adultery etc. There are laws that forbids, or restricts every one of those and a lot more that I didn't mention.

This one who is to say that the guys who wrote it weren't using a early hallucinogen ? Besides alien life forms have marked it not for export { as it is the main cause of war and civil strife on our planet } apparently they are afraid of cultural contamination .
It figures a christian would call them self " avon calling ' is it because they are a ding dong or because they go door to door bothering people ? Just curious .
And as to how i know the bibles status with alien lifeforms ? I asked them { makes as much sense as Georgie saying he talks to god eh } !

How can you be so sure those things don't happen right here on earth....the same source also says, "Scoffers will arise in the last days" and you just proved that to be true, so why should you doubt the rest? The Bible also says, "With God all things are possible." Who are you to disagree?

You're missing the point. Some of those are miracles (water, whale), some of them are probably metaphors and quite possibly did not "happen" in actuality (snake talking--snake being a metaphor for Satan, sun standing still-being a metaphor for the ongoing battle). That is probably the stupidest argument against the bible I've ever heard.

the walking on water was done by Jesus Christ the son of God who created the Universe
Something that created the Universe should definatly be able to walk on water and stop the sun from moving
the snake is Satan

These were the words of my loving Saviour, Jesus Christ:
Matthew 24:35
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
Luke 16:17
And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.
The Bible came from heaven and not from any planet...
2 Peter 1:20-21
20Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
