In Psalm 144, David asks a similar question:

Psalm 144:3
LORD, what is man that Thou takest notice of him? Or the son of man that Thou makest account of him?

And in Psalm 8, David wrote this:

4 What is man that You are mindful of him,
And the son of man that You visit him?
5 For You have made him a little lower than the angels,
And You have crowned him with glory and honor.

6 You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands;
You have put all things under his feet,
7 All sheep and oxen—
Even the beasts of the field,
8 The birds of the air,
And the fish of the sea
That pass through the paths of the seas.

If the Darwinists are correct then we are only here due to random chance, we have evolved from pond slime and there is no reason or purpose to it all.

Or you can believe the Bible which says we were created by an all powerful God who desires to have a personal relationship with us and for us to live lives full of purpose and reason.

I know which I would prefer to be true!

We're here to glorify God's gracious nature by being subjects of his grace. For example he says, "Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon." Is 55:6,7

David himself asked this very question here:

Psalm 8:3-4 (New International Version)

3 When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,

4 what is man that you are mindful of him,
the son of man that you care for him?

Why are we here?

To worship God.

When you consider all the sperm that competed for your mothers egg, your lucky to have been the sperm to successfully fertilized it.

Why worry about why you are here, just worry about what you can do to improve things while you are still alive.

St. Augustine says: Lord, You have made us for yourself and our hearts are restless until they rest in you.

The Catechism tells us: Creation is of major importance. It concerns the very foundations of human and Christian life: for it makes explicit the response of the Christian faith to the basic question that men of all times have asked themselves:120 "Where do we come from?" "Where are we going?" "What is our origin?" "What is our end?" "Where does everything that exists come from and where is it going?" The two questions, the first about the origin and the second about the end, are inseparable. They are decisive for the meaning and orientation of our life and actions.

THE DIGNITY OF THE HUMAN PERSON
The dignity of the human person is rooted in his creation in the image and likeness of God (article 1); it is fulfilled in his vocation to divine beatitude (article 2). It is essential to a human being freely to direct himself to this fulfillment (article 3). By his deliberate actions (article 4), the human person does, or does not, conform to the good promised by God and attested by moral conscience (article 5). Human beings make their own contribution to their interior growth; they make their whole sentient and spiritual lives into means of this growth (article 6). With the help of grace they grow in virtue (article 7), avoid sin, and if they sin they entrust themselves as did the prodigal son1 to the mercy of our Father in heaven (article 8). In this way they attain to the perfection of charity.

We have infinite value in our souls, made for heaven and to rise to eternal life with Christ Our Lord.
