I do not live in Illinois, but if you don't find a way to get financial assistance, I can recommend the following:
Check your phone book for a dental college. Often, colleges have final year students do dental work with the supervision of the teaching staff. Work done there is often free or highly discounted.
If you cannot find that kind of place, then go to a regular dentist and explain the situation. Many dentists will perform the work needed if you promise to pay a set amount each month. But if you do this, be sure to live up to your promise -- no excuses. Otherwise, you will be reported and damage your credit report, they could take you to small claims court to collect the rest, AND the dentist could decide to stop helping people like you -- so keep your word! Many years ago when I was in school, I paid off over $300 dollars by paying $15 a month for 10 months, then I got a better job and paid $25 a month until it was paid off.
Good luck!

Yes, dental work is quite expensive. There are dental schools that would be more that pleased to help you with your problem. They are experienced and need more to help them achieve their education. Usually there is no charge. If you are unable to find a school, check with social services they will help you get the help that you need and they are generally aware of the schools or dentists that are able to help.Do not wait too long, a chipped tooth with the filling may cause an infection and it could become infected and more painful.

Is there a dental college in the area? The students will do the work at a reduced cost. Also, check with friends fora good dentist. Often they will allow you to put it on your charge card or pay it over time.
Good luck

Locate a dental college near you. They'll do the work at a greatly reduced (or possibly free) rate.
There's no danger - the students are supervised by a dentist.

Here in Texas we have Care Credit (geonlineservice.com) to help pay for dental needs. There's revolving credit and you just pay as you go.
