The toslink digital optical cable come in different thicknesses. Does it matter if you get a thicker one? It is a digital cable, so the thickness with not change the quality of sound at all. Is there any point in getting a thicker cable? Or is it fine getting a cheaper thin cable?

The only reason for a thicker cable is that some have outer sheaths that fight bending to avoid cracking the plastic/fiberglass.
Generally the inner optical part should match the opening in the optical connector. If the cable is much thicker, the light could bounce around as it travels and interfere with later signals.

Not really. You're dealing with audio and not video so band-width is not an issue. A thicker cable like Monster makes is the best buy regardless of price because it is rugged. If you put in the cable and don't mess with it, the thickness doesn't matter.

The ps2 does not produce decoded sound in of itself, even although the media, which includes DVD that has sound recommendations that a dts receiver can decode into 5.a million/7.a million channels. Toslink in my view is easy to hook up with if the AV / element cables are used already. yet in many cases, no you gained't get better than stereo 2.0 from playing video games, purely movies.
