Being made in God's IMAGE means the foundations of our anatomy is a mirror of what God's image is supposed to look like. Being made in his image does not necessarily mean we are free of the flaws of humanity, a curse he had brought upon Adam during the Garden of Eden story. Of course handicaps and imperfections are genetic or usually a defect which occurred during pregnancy. Eyesight complications occur if you are deficient of minerals needed to have perfect eyesight. According to the bible, handicap is indeed a punishment but not necessarily a direct one. You might want to check on the book of Genesis for that one. But you shouldn't confuse the concept of being made in someone's image with cloning someone with exact detail. Think of it as making a bootleg copy of the real thing.

"made in our image" (trinity) which means coming as a man like Jesus(human form of God) and sin is why we have imperfections---but the Bible says that "all things work for the good for those that love the Lord." so our imperfections can be used as our testimonies to be a light to someone who may not be able to handle their imperfections so well. God knew us before we were in our mother's womb and He has a purpose and a plan for all our lives--but if we are not seeking Him we will never fulfill our purpose on earth. We will continue to exist and not to really live.

I am sure that God did not cause that. I remember all the babies born with defects because the mother took some kinda prescriptions. The body has become less and less perfect even though prescription drugs have made life longer. Genetic defects start out by incorrect intermarriages, alcohol, illegal drugs, things invented on earth. Some poor souls get the short end of the stick. In the Millenium they will be made perfect. God doesn't cause it, he allows it.

No, not punishment. Its just what you said, an imperfection. Our DNA is so complicated and so touchy, it is easily manipulated. Mental and physical disabilities can be caused by the slightest change in chromosomes or DNA. I would not call it punishment by no means. People that appear to be "perfect" may be suffering more than you could ever imagine!!

Is there a gaseous atmosphere in Heaven, so that God should need a nose, a mouth and lungs to breathe it? Or ears to hear it vibrate when angels speak?
Must God catch photons on a film of flesh to see the shape of things, so that he should have eyes like ours?
God's "image" can't be our physical shape because our bodies really only do us any good in one specific environment on our planet. If we had to live underwater we'd ALL be handicapped. So, to be "made in God's image" more likely pertains to our mental and moral attributes. Hence, even myopic, obese midgets in wheelchairs can have a conscience and sense of fairness or justice, and can care for a friend, a relative or a child, and fall in love. Although that last one's gotta be frustrating for a fat handicapped midget with glasses--maybe there's a website for them. M-Date, or something, I dunno.

an exceedingly sturdy question! And once you spend sometime thinking approximately it very profound. The actual photograph relatively would not count number after all, however the psychological one does. Given 2 selections, "perfect" and "incorrect", what style of god could create a people who almost overwhelmingly chosen the incorrect direction? heavily, think of roughly it for a couple of minutes, interior of a short term of introduction Eve provides in to temptation and chooses "incorrect", almost as though the complete subject have been set up. this could look to show that "incorrect" has been made lots greater beautiful than perfect, it is counter intuitive. examine out the OT, all in all you have a bigger share of folk doing incorrect than sturdy, this argues for a predisposition for doing incorrect. that's stunning that many answerers to this question low fee love as an animal function and fail to work out how lots we've in person-friendly with lots of our kin.

We were originally created that way-- physically perfect. We are in God's Image in that we have His qualities in emotion and mental. But--He is entirely a higher form of life, totally different, so we don't have physical qualities of His.
Since Adam & Eve lost perfection, we have been going down hill ever since.

God only created Adam in His image but when Adam sinned we are created in the image of Adam and because of sin all die. Genesis 5: 3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in (HIS OWN LIKENESS), and after his image; and called his name Seth: Romans 5: 12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

You're getting mixed up. ADAM was created in God's image and he probably was physically perfect. Our imperfections developed through many generations. (Especially considering that the first generations involved lots of imbreeding).
