Oh I know how you feel. I had a puppy once and when I came home from school my mom had given her away. I cried and cried. The good thing is that she went to a home where a family could take care of her. I think that if you are giving her away for a good cause, you should feel good about yourself. You are doing a good thing for your dog. There are no words to explain the pain that is natural in letting your best friend go and not see them again. Then all of the memories of them will not go away, but rest assured, you will once again have a pet and be able to start new memories and a good friendship with them. Stay encouraged to do the best thing for the dog and feel pleased and delighted knowing your pet will have their needs met and you made that possible. You are a great person to do such a courageous thing. I am very proud of you.

I've had to do the same some 18 months ago, it hurt like heck to do it,
But I did it for him and not for me, He now lives with another black dog who mummies him, he's taken on long walks and enjoys hunting with his new owner.
Yup I'm sad but that's for my loss not his gain, I know he ain't sad and neither are his new owners so it's selfish of me to feel like that..
You'll know if it is for the better

how come you have to give your dog away?
The same instance happened to me some years ago when we moved and couldn't take our Black Lab with us. We ended up giving him away to a home in the country where he could roam, but I know how painful it is to have to do these things.

Aww, that's so sad! Why? I love my dog so much, I can't imagine having to giver her away. I'm sorry you have to do that. Just make sure he/she goes to another loving home!!!
