My family and I have two manx cats. They both sit around with their tongues sticking out. Especially the female. She always has hers out. They seem to have no problem eating and nothing looks amiss in their mouth or with their teeth. Does anyone know why they sit around with their tongues out......aside from maybe trying to insult us.

Here is the female, Katie, doing what she does.

They do that as a way to help themselves smell the scents in the air.

Hey Geo remember me? well I believe the cat only has its tongue for a few reasons.
1. It licks it s fur all day
2. The tongues are dry and it may be a version of "Panting"
3. May be a genetic trait for this species of cats.

I hope my answers are helpful to you, merry Christmas,
Zoey

I have a male cat who does that sometimes and he usually does so after cleaning up and licking his fur. I guess he's worn out and thirsty after doing that so his tongue sticks out.

I have a cat that looks just like that, she does the same thing. I just think its cute, it doesn't seem to be for any real reason.

Maybe it's just comfortable to have their tongues out...
