I feel dumb quite often. There are many college educated people answering in R&S, and since I only have a high school education, I sometimes wonder how I think I can come up with answers that can compete (although that is not my reason for being here).
Who else gets this feeling sometimes?

College graduates are often more articulate when it comes to writing as they have had to write a lot and have often been exposed to many more ideas. These things make them more verbose, but not always right. Arguments from authority are not valid. This means that just because someone is more educated and can write/talk circles around you, it doesn't necessarily mean they know what they are talking about. So don't worry about it.

All of the good answers are already taken! Yes, there are many PhD's who can't tell their a** from a hole in the ground. The reason I try to answer a question is in case I can say anything that might help the person. If I write an answer and when I post it I find some other person has given a better answer than mine, I always feel relieved.
Some times I just like to read answers to find out more about a subject that I don't know much about, but you have to be careful with this.

Well don't feel bad not all knowledge is taught in a university, go to the library and just start reading and expand your own knowledge of things. I went to college and I don't call answering multiple guess questions properly or learning the latest buzz words exactly any better than a highschool education. Just be happy with what you have, because I have met some dismally educated college grads that would not know the back end of an *** from an elephant. The idea is to share knowledge and what you do know might be valuable to someone that is lacking that bit of knowledge so never doubt yourself and your contrabution to the world.

I have high school education too, but believe me, degree don't make people smarter. Experiences in life do! Open-mindedness do!
I am sure you can keep up in a conversation with any college educated person, especially about Spirituality, which is the kind of subject that is not directly connected to any diploma. Spirituality is solely a matter of personal experience and individual search. If one person reads the Bible 100% of the time, that person will dominate the conversation about the Bible. A person who studies about Darwin will probably dominate the conversation about Evolution. A person who studies about computer will certainly dominate the conversation about computer. I am sure you can dominate a conversation about the things you know.
Answering your question, I sometimes feel dumber than some, and I sometimes feel smarter than others. I try to show what I know to those who wants to know, and I try to learn with those who know more than I do. Arrogant and sarcastic people, I simply ignore them. They can shine away from me, cause I don't care.
Peace and share your knowledge!
Edit: There was one time I posted a question at Phylosophy section and all the answers were so rude that I deleted my own question. I feel more comfortable here at R&S, maybe because I feel more comfortable talking about Spirituality than Phylosophy anyway.

Sure, I've been in awe of the intelligence displayed by some posters. Just remember you can always learn more, so your knowledge will not stay limited to what you know right now (unless you make an effort not to learn anything new).
Plus, what some of the other answerers said is true -- level of education is not a very good indicator of intelligence. There are a lot of idiots with degrees out there. Just look at most of your teachers. However, college is pretty cool if you can go.
*Edit* -- Willa's answer is excellent.

Well educated and intelligence are not the same thing, but to answer your question, No. I have high intelligence, an advanced degree, and a huge ego, so I'm doing just fine.
Besides, I feel you can read. Pick up a book. Not Harry Potter, but a real book and learn something. You will be less uneducated if you do that. What do you think we do in College? Read books. Gather knowledge. That can be done on your own.
Samina: George Bush went to Yale. Just for the record.

We college educated people are just fine with you high school educated people. Don't worry about it.
The key isn't knowing everything, or not making any mistakes. The key is admitting when you don't know something, and apologizing for your mistakes.
Besides, you wrote a respectful question, using good grammar and spelling and complete sentences. That puts you easily into the upper 1/4th of all participants here, and probably higher than that.
And look! You managed to ask a question that EVERYONE answered respectfully! That's quite an accomplishment.
Thumbs-ups all around, and put 'em on my tab.

Yep! all the time, but for me it is the same at work and church and other places. I know I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, so I just take being here as a learning experience to better equip me for communicating with people in everyday life, because the same questions and answers here are the same ones people ask and answer out in the world. This IS about becoming educated. I am sure we can learn something from you too.

Never. In fact, YA makes me feel highly intelligent, as I am. No offense. Let's remember, an education does not make you intelligent; you are born with it. I've learned many things from TV and you don't need a college degree to do that. Give yourself some credit.
Yes, I also wanted to mention how well you write as well as the good grammar and spelling, which I'm sure you have noticed is very, very lacking on this site. There are many educated people on here who can't express themselves as well as you did.

Hey sweetie, I have about as much college education as a person can get and I don't think you're dumb. Some of the dumbest people I've ever met had a Ph.D....and some of the brightest never finished high school.
