Because as opposed to improving (evolving), the universe and everything in it is actually deteriorating.

There are better words than "improve" and "deteriorate" that escape me right now. If I remember, I'll come back. :-)

Yes, even after sin, they lived almost 1000 years, Adam was told he would die in the day he sinned, so 1000 years would have been day one. They were in the life sustaining earth unto the flood, it had never rained, but the water shield that protected the earth extended and involved the heavens, it is gone with a promise all will be made new again. 2Pet.3:13; Isa.65:17; 66:22; Rev.21:1-5;
Satan will have 6130 years from Eden, [ now in 2007 after Christ is 6073 ], in the world that end, Matt.24:3; Second coming of Christ to reign 1000 years Rev.20:1-6,12,13; No Satan 1000 yrs. 1Cor.15:22-28,51-53; Heb.9:27; the resurrection will go back to Abel.

The pre-flood world had a lot more oxygen levels than what we have today, which in effect made peoples lifespans a heck of a lot longer. I've heard of some rich people owning Hyperbaric oxygen chamber's thinking they could live forever if they spent a particular amount of time in them each day. . . .

Genesis 1:6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

Genesis 1:7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.

Today the earth's atmosphere has six layers to it, however in the beginning the Bible tells us we used to have a seventh layer of water or ice above the atmosphere. A canopy of ice could have been held-up by the earth's magnetic fields, because ice is magnetic and it would be suspended by the "Meissner effect."

Scientist are still finding unimaginable amounts of water in space between the stars and the moon.

So, the earth used to have canopy of water overhead or ice, this would create a greenhouse effect. When you look at amber (which is petrified tree sap) occasionally in amber they will find misquotes or some type of insect--well, sometimes scientist will find air bubbles--the air bubbles they find often have 50% more oxygen than we do today. The air you're breathing is 21% oxygen. Probably before the flood came this canopy of water or ice would have increased air-pressure into double than what it is today. I think the pre-flood world had greater air pressure and oxygen levels, under double atmospheric pressure blood plasma will become oxygen saturated.

Because Adam was born physically perfect before he sinned, so it took a long time for his body to deteriate. The same with Noah he was still almost perfect. We are so far down the line that we are short lived.

These people didn't actually exist, of course. There was an ancient belief that man's earliest ancestors lived to great ages. This and other ancient beliefs of this type are found in ancient story myths, in Babylonia, Egypt and other regions. They are carried over into the story myths that make up Genesis 10-11. These details don't carry any necessary significance, except that they were significant as 'truth' to their early readers and hearers. It is the moral and spiritual aspects that are the flesh on the bones of these stories. So there are many ancient flood myths, but only one of them is at all suitable for the Bible, because of its quite different moral dimension and values. The lessons applied by the ancients were no doubt considerable.

Modern students of early Genesis need to have a good deal of background knowledge if they are to understand it properly, though it is a fascinating subject, and there is an enormous amount in the stories that most do not suspect is there.

And which two of us don't want to be known is there.

They were closer to God in that they were more recently created so the effects of sin(disease, ageing, violence, mutations etc.)had not taken much effect, but there is also the canopy theory that suggests the air was much purer and more pressurised as well as being a protection from ultra violet rays and radiation thus slowing the ageing effect resulting in a cleaner, more hospitable and suitable environment in which to live.

Adam, Eve, Noah, .. were among the first humans. At that time the human was much closer to the Neanderthal, which has a much longer life expectancy.

Pressure around the earth was different, because of the water vapour canopy which also diffused light. This reflected radiation away, which is one of the big problems with age. After the flood the waters came up from the earth and down from the water canopy around the earth and we had seas instead.

And also God said that in dieing you shall die, because of the fall of man which is accumulative.

One of the first questions I ever answered had a great response to this question..
The respondent answered that years were measured very very differently in those days. Largely, because a "year" was not defined as 365 years in those days. That person theorized that a "Year" was probably based on the lunar cycle, which is 28 days, I believe.
In other words:
Using that math formula
900 years would be 900 lunar cycles
Lunar cycle = 28 days
28*900 = 25200 days
divide that by 365 days per year
25200/365 = 69.041 years.

And, when you think about how a person in those days would live (think hygiene, medical care, diet, lifestyle), it would be logical to think that 70 of our years is a very long time indeed.
