We caught fishes summer 2007. It has been in the freezer ever since. Will it still be good to eat?

If you froze it right after it was caught/cleaned then yes it should be ok depending on what type of fish it is. I know that I kept a could of trout in the freezer for a couple of months and it was fine. Only advise is you might want to cook it a little bit longer than usual.

Depends on the process you used before freezing them. I generally only bass fish. But,, this works for most fish. Fillet the fish and wash them off good. I then take a quart freezer bag and put the fillet's in it and squeeze a half a lemon into the bag and fill to the top with water, forcing out all the air and then freeze it. They will keep for over a year in the freezer that way. The lemon helps tremendously.

Here's a tip-

When freezing fish fillets either freeze them inside a Food Saver vacum sealer bag OR

(my Fav) Cut the top out of a 2 Liter Soda-pop plastic bottle. Fill with fillets and water & freeze.

If properly froze fish can still be good (and flavorful) up to 4-6 months depending on what TYPE of fish it is. (4 months for oily fish and 6 for non-oily fish)

Fish/meat that is frozen inside "non-thawing" ice can be edible for thousands of years. It is reported that people in Siberia have eaten Mammoth meat that was frozen for over 10,000 years. MMMmmmmm....Wonder what that tasted like?? (lol)

healthwise, they may be safe. but many crabs have size and bag limits which disregarding can be very unsafe to your wallet. your local gamekeeper, constable or warden or whatever you may call your fisheries officers may present you with a citation and a trip to the judge that may prove costly. risky like that. western countries' laws differ a lot from those in asia. particularly the south eastern sector where fishing is a subsistence occupation and governments care little about how many or how small the crabs and fish are that they are eating to keep from going hungry. thailand is beginning to take an interest in their giant freshwater rays and mekong catfish but that is only because they bring in more tourist dollars.

If the fish were cleaned and cut into fillets and washed down, then put into a freezer bag as soon as you had done this i cant see why they would harm you although i wouldn't eat them.

I wouldn't.. Because I had grouper in the freezer for 2 weeks and it smelt soo bad we had to throw it out.
Also did that with a Tripletail.
But if it looks and smells good then cook it up!
Enjoy! ;)
