Antarctica is getting colder.
South America had one of its coldest winters in decades
Buenos Aires, snow fell for the first time since the year 1918
In Peru, 200 people died from the cold. Crops failed, livestock perished, and the Peruvian government declared a state of emergency
Johannesburg, had the first significant snowfall in 26 years
Australia experienced the coldest June ever
New Zealand, the weather turned so cold that vineyards were endangered.
Last January, $1.42 billion worth of California produce was lost to a devastating five-day freeze. Arnold Schwarzenegger asked President Bush to issue a disaster declaration for affected counties.
In April, a killing freeze destroyed 95 percent of South Carolina's peach crop, and 90 percent of North Carolina's apple harvest.
Charlotte, N.C. set a record low temperature of 21 degs F on April 8. This was the coldest ever recorded for April, breaking a record set in 1923

Neither the intensity nor the frequency of hurricanes has increased. The 2007 season was the third-quietest since 1966. In 2006 not a single hurricane made landfall in the U.S.
On Dec. 7, St. Cloud, Minn., set a new record low of minus 15 degs F. On the same date, record low temperatures were also recorded in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
Extreme cold weather is occurring worldwide. On Dec. 4, in Seoul, Korea, the temperature was a record minus 5 degrs C. Interesting, isn't it.Only UN funded science seems to be "credible" to believers.

this could nicely be an exceedingly exciting question. Many Martian climatologists (Earthbound ones, of direction) experience that Mars is in an ice age at present, yet this could be ending quickly. The motives for the tip are no longer completely understood, yet Mars in all probability is going by using climate fluctuations merely as Earth does. and then there is often the solar, which works by using its own cycles and is likewise becoming slowly warmer with time. What effect could desire to it have on us? that's a brilliant question. If the polar ice caps of Mars have been to soften adequate, it is known that a Martian atmosphere of between a million/3 of an atmosphere to 2 atmospheres could desire to probably out-gas from the permafrost on the poles. people could desire to bypass there and walk around in easy clothing out in the open, donning in easy terms oxygen mask. Dwellings or maybe procuring department stores could desire to be definitely built in inflatable domes for little or no fee. a very new branch of human civilization could in all probability arrise there. At that factor we'd then be a 2 planet species. i will no longer be able to attend. Please study the ideas-blowing e book, "The Case for Mars" with the help of Dr. Robert Zubrin, PhD for an indepth layman's communicate of this very subject count.

No. 2007 will not be the warmest but it is unlikely to have been the coldest since 1970.

By the way Antarctica as a whole is not getting colder but some parts of it may be. The work reported to the IPCC indicates a mass loss in West Antarctica and a near- balance in East Antarctica

Here in the UK it has been another warm winter. Today the temperature in London was 52 C. I'll have to cut the grass soon!

I think TomCat above should familiarize himself with how the temperatures are measured and calculated.

Australia

A year of climate contrasts
Data collected by the Bureau of Meteorology indicate that Australia’s annual mean temperature for 2006 was 0.47°C above the standard 1961-1990 average, making it the eleventh warmest year since comparable temperature observations became available in 1910. Rainfall was well below normal in the southeast and far southwest, but close to normal when averaged over the whole country.

The annual mean maximum temperature was 0.60°C above average (ninth highest), while the mean minimum temperature was 0.34°C above average (seventeenth highest). Temperature anomalies varied throughout the year but spring 2006 was particularly warm (+1.42°C), being Australia’s warmest spring season on record.

Australian annual mean temperatures have increased by approximately 0.9°C since 1910, consistent with a global mean temperature increase of between 0.7°C and 0.8°C since 1900. According to a preliminary estimate released by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) on 14 December 2006, the global mean temperature for 2006 was about 0.42°C above average, making it the sixth-warmest year globally since records commenced in 1861.

Bigdmise its called a trend. if evey year were hotter than the last it would be unheard of. Not one scientist would say that every year would be warmer than the last.

What the metric are you on about metric.

It could be, I guess it depends on what type of metric you use to evaluate the climate. In the case of the alarmists, they prefer to take two temperature readings each day at the various airports around the world and add them up and consider that a valid metric to gauge climate by, I think that is about the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of. In your evaluation of 2007 you are highlighting how the severity of the Southern and Northern Hemisphere winter has impacted humanity, and I think that is just as valid of a climate metric as the average temperature of the jet wash bathed airports around the world.

For the whole world? Not a chance. It figured to be just about the warmest until December. To change it to the coldest since 1970 would require temperatures from "The Day After Tomorrow", a science fiction movie.

In some limited area? Very possibly, local weather is variable.

Simple answer : No

We are talking GLOBAL average temperature here, so these local Cold events are almost meaningless.

Some of the more extreme ones could be argued as evidence of climate change.

and haven't you posted this list before ?

or have you copied and pasted it from an AGW skeptic bank of information, as I am sure I have seen it before.

The Hadley Centre has projected that 2007 will be the 7th warmest year on record (dating back to 1850).

This will be the 14th year in a row that we've had a top-ten year in warmth, and the 19th year out of the last 21 years that we've had a top-ten year in warmth.

The last time we experienced one of the ten coldest years on record was 1917.

Since 2007 is over, its going to be a crazy ride for 08 in weather, so say the taboloids. Storms of all kinds are already hapining, all over the globe, & yes, we are going to freeze or arsers off this year. If you have a good wood burner, itd be a good idea to keep it safe cause when utility companys start taking peoples homes just to pay for gas bills, them stoves will be more valuable than gold!

Not likely. It may be the warmest on record, but that will not be official until it is over. Local cold snaps mean nothing. It is the global average that counts.

Any one year is irrelevant; the trend is up. You know that.

The rest of your post is about local weather. A few instances of local weather is not the same as measuring global climate. You know that.

Your question appears to be a deliberate attempt to mislead.
