My mom says I have slective hearing.. how do I overcome it? (I DO NOT want to take any medications..)

HAHA! o dear. by that she means that you only hear wut u want to hear, meaning that u dont listen to her when she tells u to do something that u dont want to do, like clean your room. my mom told me that. dont worry. haha, im sorry, but this question made me smile. to overcome it, all u have to do is your chores.

This isn't a medical problem, its an acquired skill. I too have selective hearing and its taken me years to develop the skill - i filter out everything i don't want to hear, especially if i am hearing something that is critical of me or if i hear something that sounds like it involves more work. Why change?
