It's more appropriate for the child to go into the parent's bathroom than vice versa. I wouldn't mind seeing a toddler boy in the women's room with his mother, but I would most certainly mind seeing a grown man in the women's restroom. I take my toddler son into the women's room with me, and a man with a young daughter should take her into the men's room.

The man goes into the men's and the woman goes into the women's. It's not appropriate for a grown man or woman to go into the bathroom of the opposite gender, but it's okay for a little two year old to.

As other posters have said, you are the adult, so you take the child into your bathroom. Since you're a man, you might have to check quickly in case the urinals are positioned in such a way that your daughter would see more than she should upon entry. You can even announce your arrival: "coming in with my daughter."
Whenever possible, look for a family or handicapped bathroom that is a single room rather than one with multiple stalls.

It is perfectly ok to take your 2 yr old daughter into the men's restroom, they are too young to understand anything yet. And Vice Versa. I'd say the age limit is around 5/6 till they are kinda required to go on their own. It is more the mental compacity of the child.

Its fine for a man to take his daughter into the mens room with him up until about the age of 5, when it actually in some (if not all) places becomes illegal. Or so I have heard...but I wouldn't stop taking my 6 year old in with me, but at age 2, its fine.

I'm female.
I would go in the female restroom . My child would be 2, which wouldn't be a problem. Someone would feel a little strange with a grown adult going into the opposite sex's bathroom. Same way around.

My son would take his daughter into the mens restroom, keeping her sheilded from anything that might not be appropriate. Men's restrooms have stales for privacy the same as womens. She is six now and he walks her to the womens restroom & waits. Only on one occassion have I know of him to go into a womans restroom with his daughter. The mens restroom was very stinky and dirty.

I think the general public would be able to handle a small child being in the opposite sexes bathroom, than an adult.

Depends on how clean the mens room is. I have brought my daughter in the womens room and none of the other women minded. Its what you have to do. I knocked and said I was coming in my daughter had to go really bad. They said ok

The adult goes into their correct bathroom. If it's a man, I suggest taking a peek inside to make sure everyone's decent before taking the little girl inside.
