I used to have these dreams that I though were real because they were vivid,I had forgotten all about them until last night.I dreamt that I was somewhere I hadn't been in a long time. It was inside a museum and I walked up to my old boss and said "is it still here?" and she had me follow her to a different museum to the highest floor and handed me a key to unlock the door and said, if anyone asks if you are authorized say yes and show them this badge, she handed me my old ID.

I walk into the room and see a large pool of water with stairs going down to a deck that is right on the water. I crawl down and sit on the deck, and wait. The next thing I know I am petting a whale, it is trying to get me to in the water to play and swim.So I do, and I'm just swimming around in a pool with an orca whale. At one point it was "grooming me" i thought it was going to swallow me whole but then instead it just licked the side of my face like a dog licking a companion.
Someone please interpret for me?

It seems as though you have not accessed your more spiritual or intuitive side for awhile, and like you are rediscovering this part of yourself. I find it interesting that you had to get permission to go there, and had to ask if it was still there. To have your "identity" handed to you also seems like this is part of your self you had put aside for awhile. We all have times in our lives when we are unable to address that part of ourselves, due to practical reasons of getting along in the world distracting us from it, or sometimes things like death or illness in the family taking our attention from it, there are times we need to focus on the needs of others, and put aside our own spiritual nurturing for awhile. As you are ascending the stairs with the boss (a higher authority guiding you) you are ascending to a higher level of consciousness, and as you open the door to go inside, you are accessing another level of your inner self. The whale is your intuition, awareness, and sense of spirituality, and it was so happy to see you because you apparently haven't been there for awhile. Water pertains to the emotions, but also is a metaphor for the unconscious self, and I think in this situation it is more about your intuitive self...you found a great opportunity to nurture your spirit for awhile, sounds good :)
The museum basically sounds like a metaphor for all of your experiences archived and filed away, if you accessed a different door, you would approach some other aspect of your life...kind of reminds me of the image of the mental storehouse used by one of the characters in the movie "Dreamcatcher"....

you like whales...? and you miss your old job...? or very likely you were thinking about your old job before you fell asleep and you also thought of a whale.. the mind is a crazy place who knows who understands it completely.
