When Adam chose the fruit from the tree of knowledge over the tree of life he made a choice. He determined to accept death over an eternal life of uselessness. He knew there was no pleasure in a uselessness eternity which would be purposeless. Life is only worth having when it serves a purpose. He knew eternal life would serve no purpose whatsoever. But God wasn't giving up on you. He sent you Jesus determined to destroy all purpose by giving you eternal life. Aren't you religious people getting yourself into something you know absolutely nothing about which could be worse than Hell. And you wont be able to get yourself out? God knows what purposelessness is.

Well, if there was a god, I think he/she would be readily available in our day to day phenomenological existence. I mean, why would such a great loving and compassionate being allow such absolute suffering in his/her favored creatures? Clearly, if there were a god, he would be considered the ultimate sadist! Trying to ascertain what god considers to be purposeful is an exercise in futility. When looking for a sense of purpose, I tend to like the Secular Humanist perspective.

"Secular Humanism is a way of thinking and living that aims to bring out the best in people so that all people can have the best in life. Secular humanists reject supernatural and authoritarian beliefs. They affirm that we must take responsibility for our own lives and the communities and world in which we live. Secular humanism emphasizes reason and scientific inquiry, individual freedom and responsibility, human values and compassion, and the need for tolerance and cooperation."

I don't know exactly what my purpose in life is, but what I do know is that when someone else tries to tell me what it is I should run the other way because they're either trying to sell me something, enlist me in their cause, make me their b*tch, or convert me to their way of thinking.

After decades of soul searching i suspect that in the grand design of things we are spiritual beings and over eons we are each slowly being refined and changed and the end result is for each of us to ultimately be absorbed back into the creative ooze (God, if you wil) that is responsible for us existing in the first place. So, our physical lives here are just a tiny part of that larger journey and our spiritual selves - deep inside us, of which we are largely unaware, are growing and learning and experiencing creation and that is our purpose here. When our physical bodies die our "soul" will continue on and will be a bit closer to that final destination as a result.

My purpose in life is to live the best i can and be good to my god given husband and when i am risen in heaven with my lord, I will be more than happy to worship him for all eternity, unlike the sad sorry ones who will be screaming out in pain and agony in hell while the rest of us are dancing, singing, playing, and worshipping God forever. and darling, adam did not choose the fruit, eve did, therefore your entire beginning is completly wrong. and besides, EVE did not choose the fruit with all that "crap" in mind that you pullex out of the air, she chose it because humans have free will and she was being disobedient to her maker, just like every human being does.

Well.. i didn't really get that paragraph. But my purpose in life is to ENJOY IT. Actually having fun doing things I want to do! IF you don't, then you are just wasting a life that's not worth living.

Um why are you repeating this question? I can understand doing it because no one responded to the first, but that is not the case. I can understand if you post it in a different category to get a different opinion, but that too is not the case.

So why are you repeating this question again?

To live Love, and hopefully be loved..
To search for my true purpose, for I know it not, it may not be until death does me in. To do the best I can for me, and my fellow human being, for life is so short. Make the best of it, to be remember with delight, rather with anguish.

Happy New year One and ALL.
