If you worship a personality, you belong to a cult.
If the shoe fits, wear it.

All three of these groups share certain characteristics in common, though, likely, most of any of the three would deny it. All have rigid heirarchies, have secrets from the rank and file, have secrets from the public, and require accountability to men who they believe determine their standing with G-d.
Here's a helpful list of cult characteristics, so the reader can decide:
Ten warning signs of a potentially unsafe group/leader:
Absolute authoritarianism without meaningful accountability.
No tolerance for questions or critical inquiry.
No meaningful financial disclosure regarding budget, expenses such as an independently audited financial statement.
Unreasonable fear about the outside world, such as impending catastrophe, evil conspiracies and persecutions.
There is no legitimate reason to leave, former followers are always wrong in leaving, negative or even evil.
Former members often relate the same stories of abuse and reflect a similar pattern of grievances.
There are records, books, news articles, or television programs that document the abuses of the group/leader.
Followers feel they can never be "good enough".
The group/leader is always right.
The group/leader is the exclusive means of knowing "truth" or receiving validation, no other process of discovery is really acceptable or credible.

That largely depends on your definition of cult. If you define it as a small religious group with doctrines distinctly different from religons around it, following a charismatic leader, then Christianity started life as a cult, and none of the groups you mention are.
What does it matter how many people think something. What matters - what really matters - is what YOU think. You can't make your own decisions based on popular opinion.

the catholic religion is the oldest and most established of all the christian religions.to call it a cult shows a basic misunderstanding of the term cult.mormonism was started in the early eighteen hundreds and the j.w.s were started in early nineteen hundreds.both far closer to a cult in it's proper definition.all religions have cult like aspects to them but one of the key elements that is missing in defining these as cults is the restriction of freedom ,both physical and psychologically
while all of these religions have rules none of them use any of the methods a cult employs , such as sleep deprivation, hour upon hour of repetitive verbal reinforcement, protein deprivation,
community isolation.so one should look up the word cult before using it.

Catholics make up 2/3rds of The Christians in the world to call that a cult is a joke...just Prostestant bigotry
LDS and J.W.'s have different doctrines and are new but they aren't cults. They are too big to be cults. People in them aren't brainwashed nor are they zombies.
As for Quailman who thinks LDS people are less intelligent than others....Mr. Jennings who won millions on Jeopardy a few years ago is LDS and he is very intelligent.

If you follow the definitions given of cults, most organized religions fall under that category.
I can see why people believe they are cults but I wouldnt necessarily say they all are or become such.

all three are religions. Check the definition of a cult and see that even if one was called a cult --- it is not derogatory. The Catholic Religion is the original Christian religion---like it or not.

A fake cult is a faux cult no count if its a sparkling religious stream or an previous one. Islam might desire to nevertheless be referred to as a faux cult in comparison to Biblical Christianity. in certainty there are various similarities between Islam and the LDS. They the two have a faux prophet who exchange right into a pedophile, practiced and taught mulitple different halves, they the two created a sparkling "bible" which they taught is greater suitable and greater sturdy to God's unique. i exchange into raised in a Lutheran Church and we gained 0 practise in comparative religions. that's i've got self belief one reason fake cults are in a position to proselytize so effectively. youngsters specially, might desire to be knowledgeable in what a faux cult is in the previous they pass off to college. one in each of my cousins, who back exchange into raised Lutheran, married a Christian Scientist, yet another fake cult without understanding it. i do no longer even think of her Pastor warned her approximately it. i'm no longer even particular if he knows to this present day what a faux cult it. She is fortunate they have a robust marriage. yet she had mis-carriage after mis-carriage and Christian technological know-how exchange into no longer able to help. Then i exchange into made attentive to the undertaking, prayed for her and eight months later she had twins. Jesus healed her right away. needless to say it took 8 months for the twins to reach. besides i'm happy you isn't sucked into that womanizeing fake cult I call the Latter Day Sinners. Pastor artwork

You can't believe everything you hear. Jehovah's Witnesses do not have ritualistic meetings and don't worship in secret. Meetings are open to the public, the general public are always invited. Clearly, most Kingdom Halls here in the States are seen from a road side view marked with a sign.
If you have questions about Jehovah's Witnesses and their beliefs, don't be afraid to ask, the door is wide open.
