My husband had a similar problem but never used anything on his face.I always use asda own toner ,exfol and deep cleanse wash.I then moisturise with nivea(the old type in the blue bottle)I got him to try them and now his skin has really improved and he uses them all the time(don't tell him I told you as he posts on here too!!)The toner, exfol and deep cleanse cost about £1.90 each and you can get a bottle of nivea for £3.00.These are good for sensitive skin too as I have to be careful what I put on my skin.tell him also a steam over a warm bowl of water will open his pores and get rid of some blackheads.Don't be conned in to thinking that the male range of Nivea is any different from the ladies range it isn't just more expensive. My husband also uses Nivea after shaving instead of balm and his skin is now great.Good luck

There is a little thing called a Zeno Zit Zapper, I've found it to be quite effective.Acne can be embarrassing at the best of times. I would try going into a site called Epinions.com and find out what users are saying about various products. Good hygene which involves regular bathing helps a lot. Good internal health is a major contributor to healthy skin. Try and stay away from the junk foods. I’ve also had good luck with a product called Acnezine. You might find some help at my sources. Good Luck

to be honest if he's got really, really bad blackheads the quickest way to get rid of them is get a professional to give him a facial and get her to take as many as them out as possible.
Otherwise just get him some good products. the Simple product range isn't expensive and is very good and I know they have lighter products for oily er skin, as well as washes which should help with the spots. And they're hypoallergenic so won't irritate his skin.
And the body shop does great witch hazel blotting paper, so when hes out and his skin has started to get oily he can just dab them and get rid of the oil and shine. And Witch hazel is good for spots too

Try BeautiControl Skin Strategies for Men...You would probably want to start out with the Scrubbing Gel Cleanser and Double Duty Moisturizer.

For the spots, I swear my sudocrem (the stuff you put on babies bums!) it sounds odd, but it is magic cream! If you put a blob on the spot and DON'T rub it in properly at night, the spot has usually gone by the morning.
My Dad used to have skin problems but a couple of years ago he discovered the Nivea Aftershave balm Sensitive and since then he hasn't looked back. It is about £5 I think but sometimes Superdrug and Boots have it on offer. They have different variants of Nivea aftershave balms too, so your husband may find one to suit his skin.
Good Luck

I've found my using even a cheap face wash if you're strapped for cash works wonders, and not forgetting to drink your 8 glasses of water each day helps too. When I can get it away with it I try and shave every couple of days instead of daily which gives the skin time to heal, good luck and I'm sure you'll get there in the end.
Thank you :)

1] buy him face wash, toner, sunscreen, and moisturizer for dry skin. Wash, tone, and sunscreen in AM; wash, tone and moisturize in PM. Get a drugstore brand you recognize.
2] exfoliate every other day
3] use Biore pore strips
4] acne cream or gel on oily or spotty areas twice a day
