zanib, thank you for answering. I wasn't stereotyping at all.. I was getting too many disrespectful answers so I deleted the question. My husband is Muslims and he is one of the most wonderful people I've ever met in my whole life, but some of his family members have issues with me. I just don't understand it.

killing for marring outside the family is a cultural thing, some people even kill there non married daughters when they do adultery and that's a sin , in Islam she is not supposed to be killed.

i don't know why some of your husbands family have issues with you, i have relatives that are married to non-Muslims and no one has a problems with that. as long as you and your husband are happy that's all what matters.

No it is NOT okay to kill people of other religious beliefs/ethnicities. You say you are married to a Muslim, you should have already found the answer to this. Islam is a religion of Peace. As for the "kill someone in their own family who marries outside their religion", it is more of a cultural thing.

Oldest norms are still being folowed. Now a days marriages are done intercast.EVEN A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE PEOPLE.
The students do say a PhD.sOME HOW THEY COULD UNDERSTAND EACH OTHER.parents are agreeing for their marraiges. What is wrong with it? It's ok I feel
But some individuals with a strong norms never hear their children at all.Omly u educated ones go against .What is there for intercast marriage.
Religion does not say a no!
Then evena baby girls are being killed too.
Now a days things are improving.A stage will come nogirlls will marry too.

1- Muslims MAY marry christians or jews.
2- islam is against killing under every circumstance, except in self defense. in the Quran it says if u kill 1 person, its equal to killing all of mankind.
note: it says PERSON, not muslim. thus, its not allowed except in self defense.

edit: ohh so thts the issue. well, ur in laws r wrong. it is permissible according to islam, and thus they must be OKAY with it. just ignore them and note tht they r not following the Quran and Sunnat correctly.

Prophet SAW was stoned by the non muslims..not once did he speak up. so we muslims should be doing the same..be patient/

like everyone said, no...it is a huge sin to kill someone solely on the basis of their religion.
As for your in laws, they might just be having a hard time adjusting because they are use to their traditions. I know a woman whose children all married people who are different races and religions and she, decades later, has accepted them, but still feels uncomfortable about it. Maybe if you get to know them better things will turn out good. =) good luck!

Praise be to Allaah.

Killing a non-Muslim when he is a mu’aahid (one of those who have a peace treaty with the Muslims) is a sin, one of the major sins. Al-Bukhaari narrated that ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Amr ibn al-‘Aas (may Allaah be pleased with them both) said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: ‘Whoever kills a mu’aahid will not smell the fragrance of Paradise, even though its fragrance may detected from a distance of forty days.’”

Santa Baby, you are married to a muslim man and was he killed or shunned? i have the feeling you already know that killing of someone because of there ethincity is haraam (not allowed). Countries go hand in had with culutre, and religion and culture are different things. Religion is difinately more important than culture.

in answer to the question u askd, then deleted for som reason -
i rekon uv got the image of muslim people a litl wrong. how abotu if i told you, im muslim, half my close frends r non muslim, which is true, n i respect them highly and do not look down or frown upon them. but then i will say there are many many muslims n this world who do the opposite and look down at non muslims, which is wrong. i guess the answer to ur question is tht there is no reason u wud wanto convert if u r treated that way. but one thing must eb understood, that islam, the religion itself does not allow or approve of non muslims being treated like tht. the whole thing is put into action by muslims hu r fundemental, or even very slightly extremist. they r wrong, and u should understand the very important fact that these people are nto the tru representation of islam. the religion infact tells all muslim to treat non muslims not in a negative way, ther is no reason for spite. quite basically whtam sayn is tht not all muslism r how u described, and those tht r dont have the approval of the tru islam.

and in answer to this one u ask now -
Allah does NOT say it is okay at ALL to kill any of any religion or ethnicity. and yes it is true, the muslims that do so called "honour killings" are nto true muslims as Allah strongly forbades these kinds fo actions. frgt the actions, wer not allowed to even think like tht. i dno wer countries comes into this from, but the religion applies to every muslim, despite wht country theyre in, theyr nt allowed to commit these murders. thx for asking these in a nonconflicting manner

EDIT -
oh i c, about ur in laws. iv seen a prgram on tv, about a situation very similar to yours in real life, and the woman tried very hard to adapt to the religion, to b accepted by her husbands family, but they were stubbron and refused evrything. i suggest u dotn make too hard an effort, but show respect at the sme tym. they should evenutally realise the way they see u is wrong.

no, honor killings and vendetta have no base in Islam!

however there are 3 cases in which someone's blood is not "defended" (everybody is defended who utters the Shahada with knowledge = muslim) but there are 3 cases in which it is okay to kill them:

- one openly confesses that he was a muslim but now is a non-muslim and even curse Islamic things etc
- someone who cheated his/her spouse (punishment: stone to death)
- i think the third is a killer who deliberately killed another muslim unlawfully and was caught, please correct me if i am wrong

- but i think these examples do not belong to your question
