If I said all that was done by Christians, I would get reported. But I guess if you actually wanted an answer, you would have picked out another word other then heathen.

I wouldnt really consider myself to be a heathen or christian, I am some where in the middle. The reason being is I have been to different "religions" services and the thing that I found most amazing is that they each have their own version of what really happened in the bible. How can so many people read from the same book and come away with different understandings? The other thing that I really am confused with is that every time I "joined" either a non denominational/ baptist/protestant/mormon religion I had to be baptizied into the religion. I thought you only had to be baptizied once. The other thing that really turned me off to christanity is when I was at a bible camp and the "leader" of this church came back from where ever and she had this gem stone with her and those that were in charge decided to use the huge overhead projector to display this thing like it was being shown on the home shopping network. I thought that was pretty tasteless.

Also if you want to know why non christians dislike christians so much read some books on christian history and you will know why.

I know people have answered this before me, but here goes. Try about 2 thousand years of persecution, torture and murder. Try being told by every Christian that we meet that we are evil Satan worshipers who are going to burn in hell. We don't even believe in Satan, by the way. Being burned at the stake. Should I go on? There's lots more. How about not saying heathen in a derogatory way. We Pagans or Heathens whichever you prefer to call us are following a path that is 10's of thousands of years older than Christianity yet we are treated without respect and maligned for having the audacity to tell you people to your faces that not only are you wrong, but that more people have been murdered and more wars have been fought in the name of your lovely religion than in all other religions combined. If that's not enough let me know I'll be glad to post more reasons.

Christians have tortured, imprisoned and killed pagans/heathens lied about us and vilified us in obscene ways for the last two thousand years. And, still use every dirty trick in the book. I know of pagans and wiccan parents who have been threatened with the loss of their children for no other reason than their religion. Now why would we hate Christians?
Actually I don't. I just find some christian attitudes and what some Christians do very objectionable. I think they would be less hated on YA if they were less hate filled and angry themselves. You don't make friends by telling people that they'll burn in Hell. I have been vilified for my beliefs and sexuality frequently on YA but only by people who call themselves Christians. If you see hate everywhere you are looking in a mirror.

oh well...no clue buddy, maybe you personally have not done anything to these so called "heathens" but I believe your bretheren have. Should I name the events I personally know about?

kicking down of an altar
Illegal break-in and robbery
unsolicted obssessive desire to convert right off the street, when I'm on a deadline to get food from Subway for my boss
Rumor/Gossip that can be sued over as slander and liability (been nice so far)
verbal abuse
emotional abuse
physical abuse
lawsuits over my Holiday ornaments
hit in the head by a "wayward" drink (Seriously, no one knew how that guys drink hit me in the haed from behind)
The "I'm going to Hell" story on a constant basis because I'm not wearing a cross around my neck
crosses burned in my front yard (granted this was the Klan, but they claim christendom)
the list can go on if you'd like me to...
Out of all of my life the one thing I really get aggressive about is being accosted on the street and prophetized to when I never asked for it.

Before I answer, let me start by saying that I myself am a Christian. Anyway, now for your regularly scheduled answer:

First off, "heathens" often hate us because of the "holier-than-thou" attitude that many Christians seem to show. People don't seem to react well to getting called any kind of name, especially a name like "heathen". Not to mention, when you threaten that if someone doesn't believe like you they're going to burn in Hell, it doesn't show the love that we talk about. Yes, I believe that if a person isn't a born-again Christian, they will go to Hell, but that's not how you should start out. You have to show God's love to a person and treat them the way you would want to be treated. People don't realize that you have to build a relationship with someone before talking about anything serious to them. I hate it when people use scare tactics to try to convince someone that they should be a Christian. I mean, seriously, "God love's you, if you don't love Him you're going to burn in Hell!" Does that really sound like you care about someone?

Secondly, there are a lot of things that so-called Christians have done to non-Christians. So many people claim to be Christians, but don't truly believe it. Look at the Crusades for instance. Only a small percentage of the people who fought in the Crusades were actually Christians. Many of them were people who were looking for an escape for home or glory or something like that. Christians get a bad name because of the things done by hypocritical non-Christians who are putting on an act. Think about it, even as a Christian, I've ran into way too many people who make me understand why people hate Christians so much; and it's because they're not really what they say they are.

I could go on and on about this topic for ages, but I'll spare you. If you really want to hear it, feel free to email me at hyperactress23@yahoo.com

Satan, in the guise of religion (Christianity, Catholicism, and Islam) has done great measures to distance man from God. It's not the God of the Bible that some people hate (you can't truly hate what you can't understand or whom you don't know). But, it doesn't negate the fact that they know Him not and have intentionally failed to understand Him.

If only they had looked, they would have found. But, for the love of personal pleasure over the truth many people have distanced themselves from any real concept of God. Many horrible things have been done throughout history in the name of 'God'. But, those who condemn what they don't understand are just as bad as the perpetrators of such atrocity. Ignorance and hate is indiscriminate of belief systems.

Non believing people openly fail to realize the truth because, out of willful ignorance they prefer to blame those who don't live up to the standard rather than base their conclusions on the standard itself. They have pathologically blamed good for man's lack of doing anything good. This is the working of disingenuousness at its best.

If they spent much less time debating unfounded principles and more time actually seeking knowledge they would know that God is love. This is what the message in the Bible is really all about.

The animosity toward Christians is based directly on past actions in the name of your God. Missions to force other cultures into your religion, persecution of non-Christians, oppression of Christians and non-Christians alike, condemnation of anyone who disagrees with the religion, and an insistence that the world operate by your rules are just a few general ideas. The Crusades, Inquisition, Salem Witch Trials, numerous controlling cults, and persecution of homosexuals are a few concrete examples.

Who says we do?

I'm Heathen, and proudly so, but I don't hate Christians. Of course, you do understand that a Heathen is a follower of the beliefs/practises of the Germanic Tribes, right?

Maybe you should try not assuming about entire groups of people.

christiani then and christianity now are not the same thing the pope manilpulated to think a certin way and they could not do anything about it because they didnt even have the bible to personally chek(that was before the printingpress) and bu that time they had gotten used to things that way adn just because u say ur a christian does not mean that u really are one. nobody would ever mistake the ku klux clan for being c hristian . but they had perverted ideology and used christianity as a way to wrongly justify their actions.

I don't hate Christians, first off.

You personally may have never done anything to me, but the history of Christianity is riddled with wrong doings (many severe) against non-christians. And Christians are some of the most prejudice and judgmental people I know, all due to their religion of acceptance and love... as long as you are also a Christian, that is. Oh and the Christians that try to push schools to teach ID or Creationism in Science class.... now those Christians, I'm not very fond of, to say the least. The ones that discount evolution without even understanding it, they rub me the wrong way too. And those really psychotic ones, like the Westboro Bastist Church kinds.... I have a severe dislike for them too.

But I certainly don't waste my energy hating them.
