A good question. Here is an earnest answer. Now, I really don't have any firm knowledge that there aren't any fairies. There certainly are a lot of myths, from tengu to brownies. Should something show up, I would have an open mind.

The point is, I live my life in every way as if there were no such creatures. It is an operating state of disbelief. So it is wit god and gods, with me. Maybe I misname myself, but I am not confused about the state or nature of my beliefs.

In refrence to this place I have decided it really does not matter. For so many a non-believer is a non-believer and thats it.
Personally yes I admit I may use the terms together because I am agnostic on the idea of god yet pretty much atheist when it comes to what I beleive. I believe the gods that are portrayed in religions are a farse, yet I remain agnostic because I think if there is a god he/she/it would not be known.

I'm an agnostic atheist.

Agnosticism is a principle (basically, don't claim something to be the truth if you have no satisfactory evidence to back it up).

Atheism is a position (that you don't have a belief in the existence of a god or gods).

A sensible person would be both agnostic and atheist.

You'll have to give an example. Besides, atheism and agnostism are not mutually exclusive. A person can be an agnostic atheist you know.

Go back and reread your question. It says "Atheists: are many of you.....etc". Your question does not ask "how many" but "are you"...seems like you're asking for individual responses to me. Be that as it may...I have no clue how many confuse the two. However I'm not one of them...I am totally atheist.

No. I am both agnostic and atheist.

Many people don't know what agnosticism actually is, and use it incorrectly as a position "in-between" atheism and theism, a position of fence-sitting. That isn't what it is at all.

I think you are wrong, and grossly uneducated. I know perfectly well what my beliefs are.

This seems true, to me as well, but I am not sure what effect it has. Many Christians are actually deists of one kind or another, but it usually goes unnoticed.

The short answer is: no.

We know what both terms mean; and due to the complete lack of evidence in support of the God Hypothesis, we are quite comfortable dismissing your god out of hand as easily as you dismiss all the other thousands of gods that have been worshipped over the last 100,000 years of humanity's history...
