Why would a pian management clinic turn someone down.Would it be because their doctor did'nt try hard enough to get them in or would it be something else?

I have never been sent to any pain management clinic. It started at 21 with a red hot swollen joint that was diagnosed as a strain. I had a few more strains including my neck. However when my toe swelled up nine years later they did some blood tests and found out I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. I was then sent to a Rheumatologist, Consultant who treats Arthritis. I was given several drugs, worked for a few years and then stopped. Then the MRI 2005 and they started the Fentanyl Patches and I am 49. I assume that when you attend a Pain Clinic that you have x-rays and MRI to back up the reason for the pain? My personal experience, by the time I get to my Doc because I have weird feelings between my waist and my knees, so he examines me then sends me to PT, the Disc Prolapse has already occurred and I then wait another 12 months to get it diagnosed? Then it seems the Doc blames me for not seeing him sooner? Good Luck

Well, I can only think they would turn someone down if they did not think they could be of help (e.g., they had knee pain, but the place was specializing in back pain). Did they have no insurance, and no money? What did they tell them was the reason?

They must not have determined they could help manage your pain better than your doctor or, they think you are drug seeking.. They have an medical responsibility to treat you if you are in need of their service

Most likely it would be because they thought they couldn't be of help to managing your pain.

It could be if you're showing signs of drug seeking.
