Are braces sufficient? Or is surgery required? If it needs surgery, does that mean they're going to cut my jaw off?

To fix an open bite..orthodontics is always involved(braces) and sometimes jaw surgery. In the case of jaw surgery..They are going to reposition your jaw and reset it. As far as "cuting your jaw off" that is thinking you shouldn't explore any longer. It will just continue to frighten you. Put yourselves in the hands of a trained professional and let him or her help you make an informed decision.
Take care and I hope I have helped put you at ease.

I have an open bite and I got braces yesterday. I got braces for other reason (main one is my gap.) I didnt know I had an open bite till I went to the orthodontist!

God Bless!

JOHN,
THE BEST THING TO DO IS CONSULT AN ORTHODONTIST AND GET SOME EXPERT OPINIONS.
