ok so I got all my wisdom teeth extracted yesterday, and last night I noticed there's this white stuff on the lower right site. i thought it was food stuck in there, so I rinsed with warm salt water today and it's still there. It says on the paper that I could brush lightly, and so I did. With my toothbrush I verrrrrrry gently moved the white stuff but it looked like the tip is attached to my gum or something, so I just left it there.

Is that a tissue?

DO NOT BRUSH THIS AREA AWAY, IT'S NORMAL HEALING TISSUE AND IT WILL GRADUALLY DISPP[EAR AS THINGS HEAL.

I had all my wisdom teeth out and kind of remember what you mean, but this is ten years ago. I too thought it was food, and the best thing you can do is rinse with salt water regularly during the healing process and brush your gums GENTLY, as you are doing. I don't know what that is, but I'm sure you don't need to worry. You have probably been told to come back in a week or so to have the stitches taken out and you could mention it to the dentist then.

Could be sutures or gauze stuck to it, but just leave it alone and let the healing process take place. You don't want dry socket. My co-worker had it and said it felt like a hammer pounding in his jaw.

Stop touching it. It is all part of the healing process. It will disappear on its own. Disrupting it can result in infection or a VERY PAINFUL dry socket. Trust me on this. It is NORMAL.
