Yes, I do. This is the way someone explained it to me: When you're looking for friends, you are drawn to people that are similar to you, who share similar interests. But when you look for a partner or lover, you are drawn to people who are your "opposite," because together you become a whole - you round each other out. It makes sense!
But if you're too different, or different in the wrong areas, it might be too volatile. My ex was my opposite in almost every way, but it was too much. I'm very nice and non-confrontational, and he was very aggressive and confrontational. Can you imagine a non-confrontational person having to sit there while your boyfriend completely verbally dismantles your waitress? We had more than a few experiences like that :-(

ahah this is not true! ok think of your friends why are they your friends? because you both must have something in common the way communicate. shopping reading stuff like that. now if you had a friend that was opposite from you you wanted to go clubbing she didnt and she always seem to disagree with you how long will you think your friendship would last? exactly! same with a partner if you guy was completely opposite from you you both will argue almost everyday that doesnt seem fun does it! at least find a guy that has some things in common that you like!

They may attract at first because they seem to compliment the other person but after a while if you are total opposites on too many basic levels, the relationship probably won't last long.

No. True opposites would never attract. When people say this they are only picking two or three things about the two people that are opposites.
For example a messy, slow, and careless guy goes out with a clean, fast and careful woman...they say opposites attract......but that is only three things out of the thousands of things about their personality.
It is true that people like a bit of what is different then themselves...but not opposites, per say.

No. Well, obviously, opposite genders attract, but I don't think opposite personalities attract. For example, a happy, upbeat person will not be atracted to a grumpy pessimistic person. I'm always attracted to people who have similar intrests to me, whether they be sports, music, or movie preferences. I don't like scary movies that much but I love comedies.

I don't think anything attracts. I met a girl just like me. She ended up hating me. I met a girl the exact opposite as me. She hates me now too.

i do think opposites attract... my best friend and boyfriend are both the opposite of me... they keep your life interesting... they contradict your existance...
when you're with a person with the same character as you... you tend to be able to predict what they are going to say and do... it gets pretty annoying and boring
its like having a picture with just one color opposed to having a picture with several or many... like just white opposed to black and white ^^... k bad example... but you get the point

my boyfriend and I are complete opposites and I love it! Don't get me wrong, we have a few things in common, but as far as things like cleanliness of the house or how we view the world differ greatly.
I like that we have different points of view because he helps me view things differently then I originally would have and vise versa. I feel that because of our oppositions, he completes me!
