My friend resently passed away and she did not have any immediate family and her son is now staying at a neighbours house. His dad is a bum and involved in street crimes and is a criminal so he is not able to look after him. I am a uk resident and have a full time job and share a house with my mother. I would like to take care of my friend's 8 yr old son and dont know the procedures of getting him here. I believe that he is not being taken care of and goes to school rarely. I am this little boys last hope and need details of how to get him into the uk as soon as possible. Please, any info would be helpful.

This is going to be difficult as you are not a blood relation. Was it in your mates will? You see UK Immigration are not going to look on this situation too positively. I know that you have the best will and intentions but after the ADAM case of the little boy found dead in the Thames UK IMM are wary of non - relatives bringing in young children. They may ask why does this person want this child here. Is the person going to use this child for - how shall I put it - dishonorable reasons.
You could go over to JA and initiate adoption of this child. Obviously this would be worked out between the UK and JA.
What about sponsoring him in a boarding school with hols with you in the UK.
Get onto your MP and see what they say.Start there 'cause it is always good to have them on your side.
Let us know what happens please.

The chances are slim but you could apply to adopt him this appears to be the only way.Either way you need the Fathers consent.More and more today kids are being used on a compassionate basis by parents wanting permanent residency here.I see your concern and would be as well if you could go to Jamacia and take care of the boy.

Think you need to establish an order of care, taking guardianship of the boy, The Jamaican court system is the only way to do it proper.. Get in contact with a Jamaican laywer to get the ball rolling,, good luck
