Just be honest and kindly ask the neighbor if he would not allow his dog to eliminate in your yard. This is illegal and letting your dog poop everywhere with no regard for others is giving us responsible dog owners a bad name ! And if the dog still is allowed to do this, I would leave a bag of doggie waste pickup bags in his mailbox !

I had a neighbor like that. One day I caught the dog in the act and the neighbor was there too. She started to just walk away and leave the poo. I politely said, you are going to clean that up arnt you? She stumbled with an Oh Yes-I then told her I had a dog of my own to clean up after and I would appreciate it if she kept her dog in her own yard or clean up after him when he goes on my lawn. The dog never pooed on my grass again. You are worried about offending her, but she is offending you, so you have to take a stand. If she is a decent person, she will see it from your perspective and get over it.

If you have been neighbors for years, try talking to them first. If that is out of the question, then try spreading out a few mothballs in the lawn. My mother has the same problem with the neighbor's dogs and the mothballs seem to be working. They kind of stink but better than getting dog poop on your shoes every time.

If you are neighbors knock on the door and ask them to have a baggy and pick up the doggy poop when they walk the dog so that it is not offending your family...if that does not work discreetly take a pic of them walking the dog and it pooping with them there and not picking it up, report it to the proper authorities because it is littering. I think talking with them first is the best course of action but in this day and age some people dont respect or appreciate your approaching them but I think if you ask nicely it just might work.

Unless you fence your yard off your only option is just explaining the situation to the neighbors and asking politely. If they aren't nice about it I suggest throwing all the poop in their yard. I have a dog and I always pick up after him, it's really not that hard.

I would just ask your neighbors to take care of it. Tell them that your kids are stepping in it and thats unacceptable. Also, try and find out if their are any laws in your area about picking up poo, I know that their are where I live. Actually, some police live in my neighborhood and if they are driving around in their cruisers and see your dog taking a poo, they will slow/stop to watch you pick it up. A lot of retired people live in my neighborhood too and they are wicked crabby about their lawns, so the last thing you want to do is bug 'em by leaving poo around. It's also just not nice.

Why don't you say what you just asked in a very diplomatic and friendly way, of course. If folks are having a problem with their neighbor, it is best to deal directly with the neighbor in a friendly way before doing something drastic. If they ignore you, then they are really not good neighbors anyway.

If they've been neighbors for years, then I would approach them in a non-confrontational way, and ask them to help you solve the problem with their dog's poop. If they aren't willing to work with you, then do you really have a relationship to ruin?
I would talk to them, and explain the situation, and try to enlist their help.

Go tell them exactly what you told the rest of the world. My children play here and I would rather they not have to deal with dog poop. Could you please not allow your dog to poop in my section of the grass. And please don't let him run loose in the front.
We had one neighbor who walked his dog on a leash and repeatedly let his dogs go into our yard to do their business and then walked on. We just stopped him one morning and told him that our granddaughter played in that area and we didn't allow our dogs to poop there and we would certainly appreciate him controlling his dogs for another 100 feet. And he was very happy to do that for us. Now I don't have to put the poop on the top of his windshield.

If you've been neighbors for years, then go have a friendly chat with them and tell them to be responsible pet owners and pick up their dog's crap.
You can actually buy little "Yard" signs at the pet store that say stuff like "Please pick up after your dog"
