I've been smoking for over 2 years, and I know I should stop. I asked God to give me a sign on wether I should stop or not, and I already know what the answer is, but I wanted to know God was there. So I asked him if he would give me a sign to wether or not I should stop smoking, and within 20 minutes my pastor told everyone to lift out their hands to give their addictions away to God. I am still unsure if this was a sign or not, but it really made me think.

No I clearly asked God to give me a sign, I didn't imagine I was conversing with him.

If, when you asked God for a sign and you are not a "true" follower, and you were sincere, then I would say then that God used the man of God, your pastor, to confirm that you should stop smoking or doing anything that is harmful to your body. According to the Holy Bible, your body is the Temple of God and it is our reasonable service to present it unto Him a living sacrifice. In addition to giving up your addiction, smoking is a terrible habit and causes many health problems. I hope that whatever answer you choose, as long as you believe in your heart that you heard from God -- that is all that really matters. I hope you attend a great church and receive the spiritual feeding we all need. God Bless you.

You know you should stop; you say so yourself. Why do you need a sign when you know what the answer is?
I quit 15 years ago after smoking for 12 years. It was really, really hard, but it can be done.
You CAN do this. If you want to be religious about it, why not pledge to donate the money you save by not buying cigs to your church, or to the good cause of your choice?

Yes, it was God speaking through your pastor to you. God does things like that all the time and just about everyday in my life. Just make sure the answers you receive go along with His Word, Okay? Good Job!!!
And God does give signs, like the rainbow, for one. He does to me and I don't care what anybody else thinks, God makes the rules, not us.

Well if thats not a sign then I dont know what is...what were you expecting...the heavens to open up and Angels to fall to there knees to beg you? Now you are screwed because if you dont quite you kind of hang up on God...Im sure he will understand but you asked for it..so quit...Now I need a smoke break.

go to the hospital nearest you
go to the wards where people have respiratory illness
most from smoking, many who can't talk anymore
smoking is not wrong, if that's true we should call Bush the devil for passing a "clean air act" that loosened standards on industry and allowed smoke and poisons to enter the earth's atmosphere

Well, yes, I think so,
But the only thing is that God won't give you a sign of if he is real. YOU HAVE TO HAVE FAITH

It could be. When you ask God to send you a sign... you have to understand that the sign could come in any form... this sound quite relevant to me... but , you have to feel it in your heart... only you and God know.....

Are you really looking for a reason to quit, or are you simply stalling? There are plenty of reasons to quit, aside from a sign from God.
Maybe it would help to look at some information about quitting: http://www.smokefree.gov/
