there is absolutely nothing wrong with using a ps2 as a DVD player.
ps2 GAMES are DVDs too
so if there was something wrong with playing DVDs on it, there would also be something wrong with playing games on it.
-------
that said, if you mean to ask if it's bad for YOU to use it as a DVD player, well, that's a case by case scenario. do you watch DVDs on it 24/7? is it causing you to miss work/school/parties? if your answer is yes, then yea, it might be bad for your social/financial life

The ps2 unlike ps is better(cuz it is a newer version) as u can see that the disk of the games in ps are all black i belive and in the new ps2 they are white like a dvd(this is the color) and as u have noticed theat dvd are the same color and that is y we say that ps2 system games are dvds and of course it make it posible for ps2 to play DVDs and that is the reason there is no harm in playing dvds any time in the ps2!!!!!
This is my opinion so i hope it helps!

no, of course not. obviously you arent getting the greatest quality dvd playback, but there is a reason why the makers of the ps2 allowed for dvd playback. keep on watchin'

once or twice a day is ok but lots of times is not good. some playing games might not work and ur cd will get damaged. get a dvd palyer or play it on a pc if u have one. and it dosen't have good graphics, some look priacy sometimes and might turn black and white once in a while.
