Its seams globaly it causes war, division and hatred among mankind.
The only advantage I see for it, is it makes people feel better for doing what they know is wrong.

Am I alone here?

...?

I think that if religion were removed people would still find SOMETHING to fight about (like little kids, 'he's touching me', she touched me first, ya ya ya ya). It's not always just about religion. To me it's more about the I'm right and you're wrong point of view, or even bigger - I want the power and control, and I will go to war with you about that.

I don't think religion causes war, division, or hatred, people do that all by themselves.

And just maybe there is peace on this planet. Peace so huge it allows us to 'skirmish' (called war death destruction) and still we are here allowed to practice thinking differently. I realize not many will even get my point here. But if peace weren't so huge, we wouldn't be on YA right now. Just my opinion.
Peace to all :)

Religion is a manifestation of human territorial instincts translated to the world of mystical ideas. To the extent that it purifies the sense of self righteousness and hate of the foreign it exhacerbates the worst in man. Some see it promote the best too. But on balance worst-best equals 0. Besides how can kind acts wipe out an atrocity?

I don't think so. People like believing in their religion it gives them peace and comfort and that is good. I think the world needs to be more accepting of everyones DIFFERENT beliefs. But those with the strong beliefs should also keep them to thereselves or among other people within that religion instead of tryiing to push their thoughts onto others

Peace without religion, well lets see, the USSR tried if for about 75 years, nice place, Cuba still lives that way, and lets not forget about the New China, Nope, I think you have missed the boat on that one.

No,

religion doesn't cause war, it's a symptom of war. War is caused by the desire and need to control earthly resources (land, livestock, minerals, water, access to ports, even the control of people). Religion is used as justification and motivation.

you are not alone, but you are very wrong. The term "religion" is bad in the sense that yes it is causing strife among different peoples, but this is all biblical. If everyone in the world worshipped the one and only True God then yes there would be peace, but again read your bible because there will come a time when that is the case and there will be peace after Jesus returns

No

Without religion, people would simply find another excuse to fight.

Religion does NOT cause war, division and hatred amongst mankind. Humans bring that on by themselves. Religion is simply used as a scapegoat

there are a number of stuff that divide us: intercourse, race, profession status, and so on. human beings additionally use those issues to chop up one yet another. A least with faith, quite everyone from the above categories are welcome (i'm different than for extreme religions).

Without religion, there would still be wars. As long as people divide up territory, there will be wars.
