I made a typo earlier. I am a single mother working part time with 2 kids-dependent and within this 2007 year my earnings are 21,562.64 and my fed witholding is 1,232.04 how much am I looking to get back with earned income tax credits???

Here are your exact numbers; your federal withholding of 1232 is included. This is assuming your children are under age 17 and you have no child care expense to deduct. Your federal income tax will be 353; reduced by CTC to zero; your withholding of 1,232 plus EIC of 3,413, plus additional CTC of 1,472; will give you a total refund of 6,117 dollars persactly.

In addition to getting back all of your withholding you are eligible for earned income credit. Here is a link to the irs website that discusses it. It may be a little tricky. For what it's worth, you may want to have a tax preparer like H&R Block or Jackson Hewitt to prepare your return. You have much to gain!
