The desire for God is written in the human heart, because man is created by God and for God; and God never ceases to draw man to himself. Only in God will he find the truth and happiness he never stops searching for -RCC

A better question would be why don't more people believe in GOD? For those who choose not to believe, can you explain the creation of Man? The theory of Evolution was proven false eons ago. Are you saying you would rather believe a scientist who cannot even explain how early Egyptians built the pyramids, or even better, how evolution would cause a person to have all the organs, blood vessels, veins, nerves, cell structure they do when doctors do not even know how or why, let alone the use for them all yet. No GOD definitely exist. And the fact is those who disbelieve, do so because they cannot fathom a Creator which they cannot put in their little mental box to breakdown, analyze, and shred. God is not human, but Spirit, Supreme and Perfect, of which humans can never be. GOD is Omnipotent, Omnipresent & Omniscient. GOD is HOLY! HIS thought are not our thoughts, and HIS ways are not our ways, HE is HOLY and set apart.
Recognize the truth for what it is. GOD is, GOD was, and GOD Shall Forever Be!

As for the tithe, read Malachi 3:3-8. GOD explains the ten percent which HE requires, even though in fact it is ALL HIS to begin with. Man created nothing. The Dirt, The Trees, The Air and Oxygen we breathe, and the Ocean, which everything needs to live, was created by GOD for us. Though Man has created the pollution and smog which chokes out the atmosphere. Let Man take credit for destruction and death caused by greed, jealousy and the desire to control that which he cannot, nor ever will.

There's an innate desire in spiritual folks to connect to a higher power and to belong. Some folks don't have this inner "need" though and find fulfillments and sense of community in other ways--even destructive ones.

Many also desire for stability and predictability since uncertainty causes them pain and discomfort.

A whole lot of folks mistakenly believe that stability actually exist even though nothing in this reality suggest that anything is fixed, and many folks want a one size fits all solution to all of life's uncertainties.

You'd be surprised to realize at just how many people think that money can buy happiness and that by giving to some group, attending seminars, buying spiritual courses and so on that they can solve anything.

You ever tried to play a game that poses no challenges? Boring isn't it. Why do you think competetive sports is so much fun?

You'd think we'd learn from nature that thriving and survival is what rules most animal and human behavior wouldn't you.

G/gods remind people that they don't know everything.

Humans make offerings to their G/gods. A thousand years ago it may have been a portion of harvested crops, or live stock. Human sacrifices were common, as well as sacrifices of freedoms such as the right to marry or own property.

Offerings are made to appease, atone for transgressions and to show gratefulness to the deity they love and fear. Offering currency is a modern form of sacrifice.

There are two choices everyone has to make in this world, to serve Jesus or not, there is no in between, Jesus came and died on a cross for you and me, to wash away our sins, He loves You very much, He gave His life for you, you have the choice, but God decides the consequences of your decision, you are a creation of God, You are made in Gods image, The Bible is the best selling book of all time for a reason, it has power, it speaks to us, your decision not to believe will be costly, I encourage you to a look at Christianity from a new perspective, a look at it thru your eyes only, don't take for granted anything anybody has every said, get a Bible and start reading it looking for the truth. Just pray that If you are real God show me, and if you do this with a sincere heart, He will show you, He loves you and wants you to be in Heaven with Him, He willnot deny you, but you must seek him with a sincere heart, God created you, He knows your every thought, The Bible says every idle word we say is recorded and every hair on our heads is numbered, thats a pretty involved God if you ask me, if you will seek, you will find, May God Bless YOU!!

Well, you're right. If God is only an idea then we Christians are really idiots aren't we? On the other hand, why would there be so many idiots in the world? Quite a puzzle!

Because we believe God is a reality, not an idea.
Tithing is given in response to all He has done for us, it is showing gratitude for His goodness.
The times when I have been able to give freely to others have been the best moments of my life-I gave, not because I had to, but because God had created in me a heart that felt the need of others and He had blessed me with the ability to give to them.

Some people believe in G-d because he actually exist. Think about it, why do material things exist? Well, that's because G-d shows his presence through them. Understand me correctly, I'm not saying that G-d is a material thing I am saying that what surrounds us is the explanation to us of G-d's presences.

$$ tithed to the Church is given to promote the work of God in the world, especially the care of orphans and widows. This is part of the Christian mandate to love each other as Christ loved us -- not such a bad idea, is it? And where our treasure is, there our hearts will also be -- so we will "put our $$ where our mouth is" and work for justice....
Happy 2008

EDIT TO ALL - the Gospel of salvation is free, but we are to return what we have been given by God's grace to His work. We are each incredibly rich, and all we are "commanded" to give is the tithe (ie 10%). Let's see, here's the math: all we have is His, but He allows us to keep NINETY PERCENT -- what a great deal!!
