A WEP key (password) only applies to wireless Internet.
I have a wireless connection and have had no problems.
You need to go into the network settings of your router or access point to find the WEP key. Contact the manufacturer of your router or access point. Specifically, contact technical support or customer support and they will assist you in attaining the WEP key.

Good luck.

no you don't need to you use a wep key. It is optional. You can either go into the router and disable the wep key, or you can reset the router, then come up with your own wep key. Either way you will need to know your routers IP address to do it.

The internal, LAN-IP address is normally set to a default, private number. Linksys routers, for example, use 192.168.1.1 for their internal IP address. D-Link and Netgear routers typically use 192.168.0.1. Some US Robotics routers use 192.168.123.254, and some SMC routers use 192.168.2.1.

If the person who set it up changed the IP address then if your using XP by: click the start button, then run, then type in the box: cmd and press
> OK. In the command window type: ipconfig/all Look for the default
> gateway, this will be the router ip address.

Once you do that, then just type the address into the same box that you type a normal internet address. It should come up.

You don't need the WEP and password if you use ethernet cable.

But you can disable the WEP on your wireless router and use MAC filter instead. Just get the MAC address of your PS3 and enter it manually in your wireless router using the computer connected to the wireless router.

no - the WEP key is the security code for the wireless (802.11 or WIFI) connection between device and router - as they all use the same router (and channel) they will all need the same WEP key. I have noticed that the WEP key slows down my wireless connection (or decreases signal quality),so I turned off SSID broadcast, changed SSID to something unusual and complex, and turned off all encryption (no WEP) - that works good and fast for me!
