It really depends on what software your talking about.
Generally as a rule the software that comes in the form of a cd will have both versions on the cd for pc and Mac if and that is a big if they are even available for both operating systems.
Some of the major software are and do make this option avilable weras others do not and require you to purchase it in the Mac version and then we have those that are not available at all for PC and are System Specific, and Operating System Specific.
OS9 OSX earlier versions were pretty bad about being specific.
Since the advent of OSX 10.3.9 and above they have gotten better but are far from perfect.

It depends on the software - if it works on both PC and Mac transfering it (via CD, DVD, or USB flash drive) should work. When I switched from PC to Mac I had a lot of software that didn't work with Mac, so I installed Windows XP on my iMac using Boot Camp: now I can choose to boot using Mac OS X or XP.

If the software can be used on both PC and MAC then you canb save it to disc or a USB drive and transfer it to the other computer
