But I dont have my W2's in hand....I know the w2 shows the state and city withholding....but there is a form that can be used in place of a W2 if it cannot be retrieved from the employer....

How would I calculate how much state and city taxes were taken if I cannot find the w2

The form 4852 was federal purposes only. The copies of the W-2 that the IRS has won't show state and local taxes.

You really need to to back to your employer and ask if you can get another copy of the form.

You could ask for copies of your W-2's from the IRS if you can't get them from your employer. You probably can't just calculate the numbers unless you live in a state and city where a flat rate is withheld.

The federal government (IRS) doesn't have the state or city information. Contact your state revenue office for the information or contact your employer.

If you cannot get the information from your employer, contact your state department of revenue. They should have a record of how much was reported and paid to them, and should be able to retrieve it for you.

I hope that helps.
