Tell the customers to complain to management (higher than your manager) about him.

There is NO "not rude" way of saying it.

I worked at the same company for 10+ years with a supervisor that was a complete jerk. Over that 10+ years probably 40-50 complaints were filed against him. 23 people have quit under his supervision, make that 24... I quit 4 months ago! My point, upper management never did anything to remedy the situation and for every time that he got away with it he just got worse.
My only suggestion would be to give customers the information on how to file a complaint to upper management and see what happens. If nothing is resolved you'll have to decide if you can continue working with him or if it's time for a change!

If your manager has the authority to fire you - then keep your mouth shut - or talk to your manager's supervisor. Do not say anything to your manager if you want to keep your job, however, if you don't care about your job and are going to be leaving anyway - feel free to let him know what you think!

If you talk to the supervisor make sure you go in with specific examples of his poor behavior and don't use the word idiot - even if it the most fitting!

Idiots with a little bit of power generally don't take well to having that fact pointed out to them.

Good luck!

If you want your job, you'd better watch how you say it; and you should never, ever, discuss your company's "dirty laundry" with your customers. Thats one of the best ways to lose a customer.

You need to use more common sense, and not get so emotional.

Oooh, you're in a bad spot.

All you can do is encourage customers to complain to your manager's supervisor, if it comes to that.

Otherwise, you're better off finding another job.

there never is a good time
but if you get your co workers together & tell your manager together then perhaps they will clean up their act
or go to HR & let them deal with it but it could come back to you.. & your boss taking it out on you...

good luck
