Right now, I realize that I have to lose roughly 12 pounds. I don't know if this is considered a large or small amount but I consider it medium.. I never used to be this way until recently when stressed, I started binging at dinner. As an alternative, I tried eating mainly nutrigrain bars but that made it worse

My aim is to eat 3 meals a day (4 hrs spaced) since I absolutely know that if I eat 8 meals, they will be huge. I heard to eat when you're hungry yet I have cravings every 1 hour which is pathetic but I can't stop becoming hungry and feeling the need to eat. What can I do?

i have soo many suggestions for you.
first, it is usually recommended to have 6 small meals a day. the reason being is that, everytime you eat you are 'feeding' your metabolism. when you dont eat, your metabolism will slow down and become dormant because it thinks it is starving.
if you find yourself hungry every hour, then i could be due to the types of snacks you are eating. (there isn't enough to hold you for over an hour.)
if you came into my store this is what i would recomend for you, eat your three meals a day, but have a protein shake inbetween. the reason i say this is because your body works twice as hard to burn a gram of protein, then i would to burn a gram of carb. thus... you can actually burn fat in the process (bonus! :D) also because you are trying to loose wieght you want to protect the mucsle you have! protein will do this. especially working out is going to be apart of your healthy lifestyle change.

Having some cravings are normal but some foods can actually help you to crave sweets and other unhealthy foods. Also aim to eat 6 snmall meals a day. his will help you to stay full and tyou will nto want to eat a huge portion when you finally do get a chance to eat a meal.

Also brush your teeth whenever possible after eating a meal. research has shown that this will send a signal to the brain that you are finished eating and that you are full.

It is possible me and husband and children eat three meals aday 5 hours apart (exepect at other peoples houses)(holidays ect...) and we only eat healthy food and only untill we are satisfied. We are always trying to be healthy it is hard though when people give chocolate.lol What i find works the best is to stay busy and then you don't think about the food.

find something else to do....take a walk, clean the house, read a book, get your mind OFF food. If this doesn't work, have a large glass of water, it may help. Or you could just throw out all of the unhealthy foods and stop buying them. =D

Joel Wallach (dead doctors don't lie) tells us that cravings are largely a result of mineral deficencies. Try drinking more water. Hunger is largely mental. You need to define your problem then you will know better how to cope with it.

i have this problem also
ask yourself, am i eating because i'm hungry, or am i eating this just because it tastes good ? i would go grocery shopping and stay away from the snack foods, and buy fruits and vegetables to snack on. drinking water also lowers your appetite
