I have about 400-500 dollars to spend on a compact digital camera. The most important thing for me is picture quality and a decent zoom. What kind should I get?

Olympus is very good. I have a stylus and am very happy although I find that the flash is a little to bright in some cases. you cant go wrong with Nikon or Canon either. Ask the camera guy in the store about your wants in a camera and he will most definately be able to find you what your looking for.

Canon Powershot SD 750, Casio Exlim Z 1080, Nikon p50,

I use the Canon Powershot, an earlier version. The cameras listed might be slightly more expensive because they are newer versions. I listed the Casio because I have seen them rated really well. I have also used Nikon and the quality is good and has also received good ratings.
