That just sounds like a kitten to me. I am not sure what your mom thinks you can do about it, but you just have to wait until she gets a bit older. She will calm down ( a little ) with time.

Pound on her door until she opens it up. Tell her she has one week to neuter the cat and pay for food an litter, or you will take the cat to the shelter for neglect (which she is doing if she is not providing food and litter for it) Do this every day- count down. If she doesn't give in, the day before the deadline, can you call the landlord and tell them that her cat is destroying the house by spraying because she won't neuter it and that there is a noise complaint because it is in heat (or whatever male cats do) and so it is yowling. See if the landlord will make mandatory neuter part of the "pet agreement". If all else fails call the pound and tell them that she is neglecting her pet by not feeding it or watering it (maybe move the food and water into your room and keep your cat in there for a day or two so this is true), and if they think you should bring it in. I'd just leave the fact that you have a cat that you are taking care of out. *if she yells at you, just talk through it and walk away, or leave a note on her door- it's her problem if she ignores it. She's been warned. If she is that nuts I'd call the landlord and say she is causing problems for all the room mates and see if you can have the landlord talk to her of evict her.

Kittens are full of energy and curiousity. She will calm down in time. When she is 6 months old you can have her fixed and that will also help to calm her down. If it is so bad you cannot take it, you can try to put her in a cage when your not around to supervise her. But do not leave her in it all the time and make sure it is big enough for her to play. She will need food, water and toys in the cage as well. Kittens get bored, play with her!

I dont know about the attacking bit, but she could be in heat.
The part about getting on the table and eating everything, get a spray bottle and put water in it, and put it on the spray part not stream, and spray her with water, she will eventually learn not to get on your counters and table.
Do the same with the Christmas Tree, but, this part is a hard habit to break their natural instincts are to climb trees. There might be some spray you can buy to put on your Christmas tree so she will avoid it, call your local vet office to find out what u can buy.

Well, that makes her very close in age to my Mindy, who's doing the same thing right now...is she fixed? You might try spaying her as a way to calm her down. (didn't work with Mindy) Min has a lot of toys to hunt and chase and that helps a little. Getting her off the table was harder, she doesn't like loud noises, so you might try shaking a can of pennies at your kitty, it works for Min. But at 5/6 months old, kitty has a lot of energy, maybe you could get her a friend to play with?

You have a kitten and this is what they DO till they mature some more.

Give her toys to play with, tie the tree up to something (or close the door to the room to keep her out), and be patient. She outgrows this when she hits about 9-10 months of age. THEN they calm down.

Yes, make sure she has toys that will play to her hunting needs. My cats love those plain toy mice, And someone above mentioned a laser pointer... I just want to say YES YES YES get a laser pointer. cats LOVE those!

She will calm down in time. And, talk to your mom about getting her spayed. It will calm her down a bit. If money is the issue, you can go to your local SPCA and get discount vouchers for a lot cheaper then paying full price. (and you can take those to most vets.)

cats are pretty much insane when they are young.....my xmas tree is such a pain in the bum to put up because i have to twist the branches on my artificial tree around the ornament strings or ill wake up w/ornaments everywhere.......no more nativity set because they knock down and steal everything....one of the door frames is all scratched up from 2 of the cats jumping up and sliding down.......they are little curious deviants that will drive you crazy at times........sometimes cute sometimes really annoying.....but eventually they calm down....

She's still a kitten? Kittens need lots of play time, so you need to take time out to interact with her face to face. Get a laser pointer, squeaky mice, cat teasers with feathers, etc. If you play a lot with her, she'll calm down. Cats misbehave when they are bored.

I had that similar problem , got my cat fixed... spayed/nutered.. now he is awesome , plays w/ his toys and lays around getting fat. he still gets a burst of energy every now and then... but nothing like it was...
when your cat gets 7 months old ... she will drive you crazy.. crying ( really long sad cries) it's horrible !!! if you get her spayed she won't do that
good luck... gotta love those crazy cats though!!
