Can anyone tell me if taking Klonopin in high dose can affect on lowering serotonin level?


Or does it increase the serotonin level?

Hi!
Klonopin is a CNS depressant. Essentially what it does is slow down your entire nervous system, including the manufacture and reuptake of ALL the neurotransmitters- including serotonin.

Klonopin (clonazepam) is a benzodiazepine. It is said to have a positive effect on serotonin levels. It is highly addictive and may result in withdrawal symptoms. It is give for anxiety, seizure control, as a muscle relaxant and for other disorders

First, read the drug facts sheet provided with your prescription, or doctor provided sample. You can look up the drug facts online. I have had complications with serotonin syndrome caused by drug interactions with serotonin level altering medications. I highly recomend researching these things. Find out all you can to be sure you are not taking mecications that mess up serotonin levels when combined with your prescriptions.
