Yes, I am petrified of the dentist!! You can find a good one out there though...it may take a few trips, but it's possible. I have found that if you tell them up front you are scared, then you are treated differently. I have never seen a needle, or felt it go in my gums, at my dentist and I fel a little better about it. They also provide a headset so you don't have to hear the drilling, although you can never get rid of all that noise, but it does help. Try to search for dentists who promote caring and understanding - there are lots of scaredy cats out there!!

In this day and age there is no reason for anyone to be afraid of being seen by the Dentist. It is a pain free experience. The medications and methods used by Dentists are much more advanced that even 10 years ago.
If you haven't gone to the Dentist in a couple of years, he may find a cavity or two. You need to make regular visits, like every 6 months or so to keep on top of things.
There is no particular age that you lose your teeth. It is based almost entirely upon how diligant you are in getting regular check ups.
My dad lost his teeth at age 38. I'm almost 69 and have lost only 2. That is due in part to the advent of fluoride toothpaste and regular checkups.

I wasn't scared of the dentist I was scared of how bad my teeth probably were since I hadn't gone in almost 3 years. My teeth really weren't that bad, I mean they weren't rotting or anything. I hate needles and I'm not a big fan of getting treated like a child when I have gone to the dentist in the past. I mean, they would not only make my gums bleed since the person cleaning my teeth would dig so hard, but they would tell me I don't know how to brush yet I don't have bad teeth.

I am terrified of the dentist. I had one drill my TONGUE once! It was awful. I also had another one pull my wisdom teeth and then tell me it was ok to walk home. I got dry socket and it hurt like crazy. I go to the dentist now every 6 months because my husband makes me but we have found a dentist that works with babies. She gives me the laughing gas even for cleaning. I also have her use the bite block so I don't bit down on her. When I am afraid I tend to grind my teeth. The laughing gas helps to relax and most nice dentists will let you have it for any procedure. I don't open my mouth till have a schnoz full of that.

The bad part about not going is that they might rot and then need to be removed. Removing them is so traumatic and I am sure you don't want that. It is better to treat them as they begin to get cavities rather than wait till there is nothing that can be done. Also, my dentist checks for oral cancer with a light thingy. It can catch it before it is so bad that it can't be stopped. Call around and find a dentist who will allow you to use the Nitrus oxide to help you relax. It makes it better.

You dont loose your teeth if you dont go to the dentist as long as you brush everyday! You are not the only one to be scared of the dentist and to tell you the truth i am afraid of my dentist too but i go to it anyway. You shouldnt be scared...it may hurt but at the end you have nice teeth!

I can tell you that I am an expert on this.

Don't wait, don't wait, don't wait!!

I hated going to the dentist and put off all of my dental problems. Now I have to have a TON of work done. It sucks.

Think of it this way, you could go to the dentist once in a while now... and be in and out. Or, you could wait and spend hours and hours, week after week at the dentist like me later.

Don't wait!

If you not afraid of the needles, what reason do you have to be afraid of dentists. You really need to go as often as you can because the mouth is as germy as your rear end. You need to go to keep from getting infections. Some can be serious enough to kill you.
