I love hunting birds, so I want to buy a new pump action (or semi-automatic) for hunting , I know somebody will tell me not to buy a pump action, but I asked lots of people who advised me to buy a pump action. So I want to know which one to buy because i'm confused between all the brands .
Thanks a lot for your help.

Remington 870 Express. These guns are very functional.Either the 12 gauge if you plan on hunting ducks or the 20 gauge is more suited for grouse and other small game. These can be purchased for a little over $300. They are the most popular shotgun in the world of the pump action variety and have been made (the 870 line) since 1950 non-stop. I own 4 of them. Two 12's, a 16 and a 20 gauge. If you want a great autoloader, buy a Remington 11-87. The price is about $900 though. I have one of these too and it is fantastic for all day shooting with a 12 gauge since the gas operated action takes some of the recoil.

My wife and I both shoot 870 Wingmasters. You just can't go wrong with an 870. I recently went on a pheasant trip in South Dakota with several other men. I was talking to one man in particular about his Wingmaster. When someone asked him why he uses a $500 pump when he could afford a much more expensive gun he replied, "I like the 870 Wingmaster because it always goes BOOM." Simply put. An 870 pump will not let you down.

Remington, Mossberg, Ithaca, Winchester.* Pump or Semi- auto.* It is a matter of personal preference.* 12 Gauge or 20 Gauge.* It really depends on how much $$$ you want to spend.* They are all great, just pick the one you want.* Buy used and save $$$$.* A new Shotgun doesn't shoot any better than a good used one.*

Look, I personally love automatics, but pump will never jam or go bad, or at the least it will be very rare if they do.

Go with a Remington, they are the best in the business.

Have you considered an over/under? Those are amazing bird guns and hold great value. You can get everything from a cheap one to a very expensive and ornate one.

Pump action Mossberg.

Why mossberg? Affordable and reliable.

Why not auto--Most birds you will be hunting for are going to be migratory. You are limited to 3 shots. The auto, you can pull, pull, pull without really re-sighting on the bird. With the pump, lets say you miss the first time, you have to pump and realighn your signts, re-aim and fire again. You have a better chance of hitting the bird. Not to mention, if you are hunting waterfowl or dove, there is going to be a lot of water or dust. You have to clean the autos all of the time and if you dont, you will jam up. Just do yourself a favor and be SURE TO GET A FIREARM that will hold 3.5 inch magnum shells. Just trust me on that one.
