I've done this before but am quite rusty. I have a list on one tab that I want to use as a drop-down list on another tab.
I can create the box, but cannot seem to locate where I give the cell references for the list that I want to show up in the box.
Thanks for your help!!

Select the range, then name it say MyList
you can do this by 2 ways
1. select the range then select the name box beside the formula box
enter a one word name
MyList
2. Select the range then go to the top menu and select insert, name, define
in the first box enter the name MyList
select the cell that requires the drop down list
then go to the top menu and select
Data
validation
select list from the Allow box
then in the source box type this
=MyList
then OK

In Excel 2003, you cannot select a list from a different worksheet. So, you can either copy the list into Data Validation - or - you can name the range of cells on that tab, then do the Data Validation and enter the name as your data source.

Since you mentioned the 'box', thus I assume that you are looking for cell references for a combo box or a form object. If so,

For example, if a combo box is linked to cell C1
and the input range for the list is A1:A10,
Open the Control Toolbox, and enter Design Mode (little picture of triangle and pencil on control toolbar) right click on the Combobox and select the Properties button.

Right click on "Format Control" then on the Control tab set the "Input range" to a range of cells where you can type your entries that you want to appear (A1:A10, for this example)
Now set the "Cell Link" to the cell you would like the chosen entry to appear, say C1 then click OK.

This link provides tutorial and illustrations of Combo box:

Hope this helps,
Have a blessed New Year!
