All she does is gossip, and she is super annoying. She will ask me every day to go, so it's not like I can make up one excuse, like a dental appointment bc when I do that, she asks me to go later on in the week, and I'm running out of excuses! oh, and she doesnt have much authority, there is no reason to get on her good side. she cannot fire me.

Just say "No thank you". If she asks why repeat "No thank you"

Maybe she can't fire you, but as a superior, I'm sure could easily get the ear of the person who would be responsible for it, you know?

Go to lunch and try to push subjects you like to talk about. If gossip comes up again, let her know that you're not a fan of gossip, plain and simple. Lot's of people are like that...it's unfair to speak poorly of someone when they're not around t defend it.

Tell her that even though you appreciate the offer, you feel you should decline in order to keep the boss/employee boundary intact and explain that your co-workers might feel slighted by the invite and that would interfere with you being able to work with them as a team - them fearing that anything they say may go straight to the boss. Your co-workers probably will consider it "brown nosing" and it will effect department efficiency.

When she asks you out to lunch just let a tremendously loud fart and say sure I'd love too! If the fart stinks really bad that would be a plus!

Tell her you won't be able to have lunch at all as you are on a (whatever it is, make something up) special diet and you can only eat food you prepare yourself OR tell her your diet omits lunch altogether. Smile, thank her and tell her you know she'll understand.

Tell her unless she invites a group of people to lunch, you feel it goes against company policy for fraternization.
