i go to a private school and i like it! our uniforms are really ugly but who cares, we get dress down days and the class sizes are usually smaller and you know everyone. everyone is like family, even though there mite like one person that dosent like you, you both still sorta get along. Private scho. challenges you and gives you a better chance of getting into a good college. =]

I went to a private Catholic school for 5th-8th. Now I go to the nation's largest all-girls private Catholic high school. Private schools aren't bad, although there might be some. I have a good education, great friends, great teacher, great school. My uniform isn't that bad, either. Sure, private schools cost thousands of dollars, but it's worth it. Nothing is wrong with public schools either. It all depends on where your parents want to send you and where you think you're education will be great.

I love going to private school! I, too, have been going since kindergarten. We wear uniforms and the policy is fairly strict, but I don't mind since I have worn uniforms for so long (I am now a sophomore in high school). I also don't think I would like having to get up every day and picking out a new outfit, I would probably throw away a ton of money on clothes and our uniforms aren't bad at all. The policy may be kind of strict, but overall they aren't bad.
Grading is also tougher, I don't mind the harder grading though because I do put alot of focus into school and I do try hard to get good grades in hopes of getting into a good college as soon as I graduate in a few years.
Alot of the public school kids I meet think that private school kids are goody-goods, but that is FAR from the truth. There is just as much partying, drinking, sex from the kids at my high school as there is anywhere else. We have pep rallys, dances, football games, clubs, and all the usual things that you find at a public school. Most people's ideas of private schools are completely distorted and stereotypical based off of what they see on tv and in movies.
I couldn't even imagine going to public school because I have gone to private school with my best friends for 10 1/2 years now and before high school I went to private K-8 school with the same 80 kids so I grew to know each and every one of them. There are 1000 kids in my high school so it's not tiny but it's not the size of the usual public school.
And you know what else? People think that private school costs alot, but here where I live, most of the money goes to fund the public schools. The teachers at my school make nearly $10,000 less than public school teachers.
I don't have anything against public schools and I can't judge them because I have never gone to one, but I hear too many people say private school kids are just spoiled brats which is definitely NOT true either.
Happy New Year!

I would not let what others think bother me . . . they are probably under the impression that they would never have the opportunity to go to a private school. I had the opportunity to go to a private college (with the assistance of college loans), and it was one of the best educational experiences I have ever had in my life. It was not crowded so I received more one on one guidance. The smaller classrooms provided a more intimate learning atmosphere. Because everyone was paying more money to go there . . . they were more focused on learning, and there were no unnecessary interruptions. The other students were very nice, and I found it great to meet people from other socioeconomic backgrounds. Since it was a Christian college, it was refreshing to be able to learn in this type of atmosphere.

I went to a private school for ten and a half years. It gave me an excellent education and I was taught about having a good set of morals and values.
If you enjoy going to a private school, it shouldn't really matter what someone else thinks. After all, you and I both know what things they are missing out on! They're probably just envious that your parents can afford to give you such a great up-bringing.

I don't see anything wrong with private schools at all. the kids i've met that went to private school are well behaved and really disciplined. I went to public school, and I got more 'real world' experience, but now a days thats not always good in the current public school system. I wouldnt want to have to worry about my child being shot in Math class.
Theres nothing wrong with private school, I think its great. And public school is fine too. They both have their negatives and positive aspects

Private schools are awesome. There is nothing wrong with them. you get a better education too. The only problem is if it isn’t Accredited your going to have problems with getting into College or Military. But other than that. I went to private school and made life long friends and got a great education.

The interesting thing about private schools is that they are actually cheaper, in most cases, than public schools. Not to the families of the students, of course, but as far as how many dollars it takes to educate a student.
In California, we spend about $12,000 per student per year. I think a lot of great private schools cost less than that.
And as far as uniforms, even public schools which have begun to require uniforms have found that it cuts down on crime and gang activities. Nobody's worried about wearing the wrong color, nobody is having their $200 shoes stolen.
The public schools could take a lesson!

I was going to go to private school but it was to far away and my english teachers made a good point that because of public schools having to cater to a wide range of people and not teiring in some cases it can make students more self-motivated as they have to be if they want to do as well. There is also still a slight stigma of an advantage when applying to higher education however this is thinning

I think it's a good idea.
Sure, it's expensive and a lot of times kids that go to them think that they're better than everybody else. But I know a LOT of people who went to private schools then switched to a public school and because of that got involved in drugs.
On the other hand, I know a lot of rich people who go to private schools who deal drugs and buy drugs because they have so much damn money.
It's a good idea as far as education goes.
