Reminds me of a hymn "Where will you spend eternity"?
Where will you spend eternity?
This question comes to you and me
Tell me what shall your answer be
Where will you spend eternity
Eternity, Eternity,
Where will you spend eternity.
Many are choosing Christ today
Turning from all their sins away
Heaven shall their blessed portion be
Where will you spend eternity
Eternity, Eternity,
Where will you spend eternity?
Leaving the strait and narrow way
Going the downward road today
What shall the final ending be
Where will you spend eternity?
Eternity, Eternity
Where will you spend eternity
Turn and believe this very hour
Trust in the Saviour's grace and power
Then shall your joyous answer be
Saved through a long Eternity
Eternity, Eternity
Saved through a long eternity.
I decided over 38 years ago to follow Jesus Christ and make Him Lord of my life. It's the best decision I ever made.

It is my understanding that when people die they have to wait for the Resurrection and will then face the judgement of God. Those who accepted Christ as their Lord and Saviour and repented may look forward to a heavenly existence. Those who rejected Him are destined for the burning lake of sulphur, along with Satan and his demons. According to Revelation, they will be tormented day and night eternally.
Now, many people think this is symbolic, and not literal. After all, they argue, how could a God of love possibly be so cruel? Some religions say God will save everyone (Universalism) and some religions say there is no such thing as an immortal soul and that when we die, we know nothing (soul annihilation).
The subject of hell-fire is very unpopular, even among some Christian denominations. Mind you, Jesus talked more about hell and what happens to us after we die than any one else. If Jesus said there was a place of torment, I'm going to believe him. However, it was the love of God and the love of Jesus that led me to faith. Might I respectfully suggest that the topic of salvation is more likely to draw people to God and to Christ than the topic of hell-fire?

I suspect they might have privatised that bit now as imagine the number of people each side would have to personally carry. You'd need fantastic numbers of angels and devils to sort this out, so perhaps it's all automated hence the tunnel of light and all that.
Does beg the question - is there a tunnel of dark downstairs?

I will reincarnate back into this world... or according to you will be carried by the devil into hell fire. Jeeze, how can you believe in God and actually believe that he will condemn you to eternal suffering? If anything, Hell is not some place filled with fire and an impish little devil, it is eternal seperation from God, which will cause emotional torment. Either way, I have much too learn before I spend eternity in the Astral Plane

Christian Universalism does not teach the existence of an eternal hell.
Here are some resources for anyone interested in Christian Universalism as well as Christian Unitarianism (these are known as classical Unitarianism and Universalism which were the original roots of UU, but are no longer predominant in the UUA - and Univesalists do not necessarily have to be Unitarian and vice-versa):

Good question.
Everyone should give themselves a spiritual examation everyday, beginning with me first.
As of today, Yes, Jesus will carry me to heaven to spend eternity there. Should I wake tomorrow I will continue to work out my Salvation with trembling and fear.
I choose not to go to hell.

I'm betting on oblivion and nothingness. This Jesus creep hasn't bothered to say hello in 40 years, I kinda doubt he'd show up after I kick off - unless he thinks he'll get something out of the will.

I will spend my eternity in ... NON-EXISTENCE!
Gawds, life after death, and all of the rest of these superstitions are just for people who can't bear to deal with reality -- we live, we end, what we do in life is all there ever will be of us.
Myths passed down from primitive desert nomads have nothing to do with explaining reality.

I don't know. And neither do you, sir.
Everybody's wondering what and where we all came from.
Everybody's worrying about where we're gonna go when whole thing's done
But no one knows for certain, and so it's all the same to me.
I choose to let the mystery be.

Oh yeah, lighten up.
